City League: Buford paces Libbey

When Libbey scores 27 points in the first quarter, the Cowboys are usually on their way to an easy victory.

But Start stayed with Libbey for a while, trailing 27-21 after one quarter. The Cowboys eventually pulled away 101-76.

William Buford paced the visiting Cowboys (2-0) with 28 points and Tony Brown and Brad Sandridge added 17 apiece.

Anthony Henderson paced Start (1-1) with 25 points, Devin Russell added 16 and Dwain Golladay 15.

Clay 59, Rogers 52

Clay received quality production from its guards in beating the Rams at Rogers.

Andrew Kuns scored a game-high 30 points, while Kyle Romstadt added 11 for the Eagles.

Craig Short led the Rams with 13 points with Traymore Comak adding 10.

Rogers played without 6-8 senior Lee Tabb, who sat out with an injury.

Waite 90, Bowsher 47

Waite controlled the boards, pulling down 48 rebounds, as it defeated Bowsher.

Senior Khari Riley led the Indians with 20 points. Teammate Brent Meredith added 13 points and sophomore Antonio Allen had 12.

T.J. Anderson, a sophomore, was the high scorer for Bowsher.

The Rebels managed only 27 rebounds, with Thomas Mays grabbing six.

Waite led 51-18 at halftime.
