Genoa prevails in overtime

Genoa outscored Swanton 20-13 in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime and went on to win 71-68 last night in a Division III sectional final at Southview.

Brad Betz scored 32 points and Chad Lewis had 27 points, but Swanton (13-9) didn't get much of a contribution beyond them.

Kyle Schimming led the Comets (17-4) with 16 points. Ben Sutter added 15 points, Derrick Vicars tallied 13 and Matt Bassitt chipped in with 11.

Genoa finished the game 23 of 32 at the foul line, compared with Swanton hitting 18 of 32.

OTTAWA HILLS 57,

EVERGREEN 47

The usual suspects carried the day once again for Ottawa Hills.

Eliot Browarsky scored 16 points to lead the Green Bears at Southview. Phillip Beans had 14 points and Brent Abendroth finished with 13 points.

Brock Bates tallied 12 points for Evergreen. Lucas Pennington had 10.

PORT CLINTON 49,

GIBSONBURG 34

OLD FORT - Port Clinton put Gibsonburg away with a 24-7 advantage in the fourth quarter, making 14 of 21 free throw attempts in the period.

Ryan Hicks led the Redskins with 15 points and Jarrod Cox added 11.

Tony Egbert had 11 points and Cody Fisher 10 for the Golden Bears.

WESTERN RESERVE 58,

WOODMORE 43

OLD FORT - Western Reserve was too much to handle for Woodmore as four Rough Riders finished in double figures, led by John Pickett with 16 points and Seth Todd with 15.

Aaron Haar topped the Wildcats with 11 points.

LIBERTY-BENTON 54,

MOHAWK 39

FINDLAY - Unbeaten Liberty-Benton rolled on as Andy Smith scored 18 points, Aaron Craft had 16 and Derek Recker 12.

Keith Zeigler led Mohawk (12-9) with 17.

Liberty-Benton hit 18 of 24 free throws to Mohawk's 3 of 8.

OTTAWA-GLANDORF 59,

BLUFFTON 50

FINDLAY - Ottawa-Glandorf (17-5) used balance as Taylor Kuhlman scored 14, Justin Schomaeker 13 and Jake Meyer 12.

Kory Place led Bluffton (12-10) with 20 points and Patric Garlock had 12.
