Gaston paces St. John's win

FINDLAY - St. John's produced 495 yards of total offense in a 47-34 win at Findlay last night.

Ian Gaston rushed for 191 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries. Gaston also caught a 21-yard pass from Walt Anderson.

Anderson completed 8 of 17 pass attempts for 109 yards. Mike White had 83 yards on five catches for the Titans, who had 386 yards rushing.

Findlay wracked up 485 yards of offense, including 394 passing yards from Eric Gilbert. Gilbert was 28 of 39 and tossed three touchdown passes. Ryan Wolfe had touchdown receptions of 15 and 19 yards for the Trojans. Mandela Schaefer also caught a touchdown pass from Gilbert of 23 yards.

St. John's Mike Noward kicked field goals of 41 and 25 yards, and Findlay's Skylar Roberts converted from 37 and 21 yards.

The Titans' defense produced five interceptions.

St. John's led 27-20 after three quarters.

Clay 28, Northview 7

At Clay, tailback Mike Toth powered for 126 yards on 27 carries and scored two touchdowns to complement a fine defensive effort by the Eagles.

Clay held Northview to

minus-four yards on the ground and just seven first downs.

Clay quarterback Drew Kuns hit 15 of 17 passes for 205 yards and Frankie Kouts had seven catches for 72 yards for the Eagles.

Northview's touchdown came on a 14-yard pass from Ryan Kremchek to Ryan Yockey.

Anthony Wayne 35,

Rogers 28

Anthony Wayne held on to win at home in a back and forth game, taking advantage of superior special teams and rushing game.

The Generals recovered two onside kicks, both of which led to touchdowns.

David Birsen also returned a kickoff 88 yards for a score.

Jordan Schwerer and Mike Bridges led the Anthony Wayne ground attack. Schwerer rushed 16 times for 134 yards, including an eight-yard touchdown. Bridges scored on runs of 1 and 5 yards.

James Pollex added a 16-yard scoring run for the Generals.

Ed Tucker led the Rogers

offense with 144 yards on 29 carries. Tucker scored on a 32-yard run, and also threw two touchdown passes. The first was a 12-yarder to Damond Powell. The second came with one second to go in the first half, a 31-yarder to Limon Sanders, which kept the Rams within one score at the half, 28-21.

Darrell James scored the only touchdown in the second half for Rogers on a five-yard run.

St. Francis 17

Olmsted Falls 14

Scott Loy got the Knights off to a searing start with a touchdown on a 90-yard pass interception return as they beat Olmsted Falls at Rogers.

Loy's interception was midway through the first quarter on one of John Atkinson's 24 attempts.

The Knights' Lee Lukasik carried the ball 20 times for 151 yards. Quarterback D.J. McPartland was 5-for-8 for 100 yards with a 25-yard TD pass to Greg Fockler in the third quarter. St. Francis kicker Pat Dyer scored in the same quarter on a 25-yard field goal.

Brendan McHugh and Noel Gerhart accounted for 78 yards receiving, McHugh grabbing two passes for 33 yards and Gerhart one catch for 45 yards.

Olmsted Falls' Atkinson was 17-for-24 for 204 yards. Running back Brandon Russo carried 20 times for 92 yards.

Otsego 34, Woodward 0

TONTOGANY - Otsego used a powerful running attack and steller defensive play to defeat Woodward.

Sam Forshey rushed 22 times for 82 yards and also tossed a 30-yard scoring pass to Vince Falk.

Falk helped keep the shutout for the Knights, intercepting a pass on the 8-yard line and returning it 92 yards for the score. Tony Gerwin scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards, rushing for 76 yards on 11 carries.

Nate Downs added 55 yards on five carries.

Quaran Fane was the lone bright spot for the Polar Bears as he rushed for 99 yards on 13 carries.

Scott 30,

John Marshall 14

CLEVELAND - Scott overcame an early 14-0 deficit to defeat John Marshall on the road. Lamon McKintrick led the way for Scott with 20 rushes for 117 yards and two touchdowns of 13 and 25 yards.

McKintrick also tossed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Philip Bobo.

Armon Richardson rushed for 141 yards on 19 carries and added a two-yard touchdown run to cap the scoring.

Admiral King 30,

Start 21

LORAIN - Admiral King scored 22 points in the third quarter - including a 15-yard fumble return by Adrian Casey and a 68-yard punt return by Chris Kimbro - to put Start away.

Troy Bell scored all of Start's touchdowns, on runs of 52, 58 and 46 yards.

Libbey 35,

Toledo Christian 7

Libbey rushed for 323 yards on 67 attempts in an away game that was actually played at Libbey.

Phillip Thomas had 83 yards rushing and scored on runs of 44 and 3 yards. Marcus Lipkins scored from 13 yards and finished with 79 yards on 10 carries.

Libbey's lone passing touchdown came on a connection from Jarron Griggs to James Douglas of 27 yards.
