Archbold clips Fairview

SHERWOOD The Archbold defense bent but didn t break in claiming an 18-12 road win last night at Fairview.

The Blue Streaks (3-0) allowed 401 yards of passing offense but surrendered just two scores to the Apaches.

The Archbold offense was led by Jake Fidler, who ran for 164 yards and scored twice. Fidler reached the end zone on runs of 6 and 23 yards, with the second score coming late in the third quarter to give the Blue Streaks the lead for good.

Quarterback David Rupp completed 6 of 10 passes for 165 yards to give the Archboldoffense balance.

QB James Elchinger completed 32 of 50 passes for 401 yards for Fairview (2-1), with Ben Wonderly catching 18 for 173 yards and two TDs.

The Apaches also were hamstrung by 14 penalties that set them back 127 yards.

Wauseon 48, Swanton 0

WAUSEON Landon Schaffner ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more as the Indians scored 35 points in the second quarter and cruised.

Schaffner scored on runs of 53, 13 and 23 yards while completing TD strikes of 21 yards to J.D. Douglass and 9 yards to Mike Thompson.

Schaffner finished with 105 yards rushing on seven carries and completed all four passes he threw for 84 yards.

Colin Hughes added 96 yards on nine rushes for Wauseon (1-2, 1-0 NWOAL).

Swanton fell to 0-3, 0-2.

Patrick Henry 48, Montpelier 8

HAMLER Patrick Henry took a 41-0 lead into halftime after scoring four touchdowns in the second quarter.

Luke George completed 12 of 13 passes for 144 yards and touchdowns to Brian Kline (13 yards) and Mitch Leonard (39 yards).

Justin Buenger, Bill Miller, Nick Powers and Dack Floro all scored rushing touchdowns for the Patriots. Buenger, who rushed for 90 yards on five attempts, also had a one-yard fumble recovery for a score. Patrick Henry rushed the ball 39 times for 246 yards.

Montpelier scored its touchdown on a 20-yard run by Kyle McCarty, who had 83 yards on 11 attempts.

Liberty Center 49, Evergreen 16

LIBERTY CENTER The Tigers scored 21 points in the opening quarter and rolled.

Liberty Center (3-0, 2-0) rolled up 386 yards rushing, with Sean Sexton finishing with a game-high 188 yards on 11 carries with a pair of scores. Jake Elling added 104 yards on 15 rushes and scored once.

Quarterback Patrick Brown ran for one TD and, while he completed just two of 11 passes, both went for touchdowns. Brown completed an 8-yard pass to Petr Prchlik and a 40-yard scoring strike to Damian Maes.

Chad Mossing threw a pair of TD tosses for Evergreen (1-2, 1-1). Lucas Pennington caught a five-yard TD toss and Eric Boger scored on a 34-yard pass from Mossing.

Bryan 50, Delta 23

DELTA Levi Fisher scored four touchdowns to lead the Golden Bears to the road victory in a wild contest that saw the two teams combine for 44 first-quarter points.

Fisher scored on runs of 2, 5, 3 and 67 yards and finished with 112 rushing yards on 13 carries. Teammate Cody Keil added 111 yards on nine rushes as Bryan rolled to 271 rushing yards on 41 attempts.

Keil added 209 yards passing, throwing a 28-yard TD strike to Shayne Combs and a 50-yard scoring toss to Alex Nossaman, as the Golden Bears improved to 2-1, 1-1.

Delta was led by Korbin Smith, who scored twice. He ran for a team-best 88 yards, thanks in large part to a 58-yard TD, while adding an 80-yard kickoff return for a second score and also catching a 28-yard pass from Austin Alig. Alig scored on a 4-yard run for the Panthers (1-2, 0-2).
