Fremont Ross, Southview, Bellevue, Fostoria, Liberty-Benton and Hopewell-Loudon reign atop their respective divisions in the first Blade high school football poll for the 2008 season.

All six No. 1 teams are 3-0.

Ross was an easy choice in Division I after its Week 1, 52-25 pounding of No. 2 Perrysburg, which is the only other northwest Ohio D-I team with a winning record and eligible to be ranked.

In D-II, let the debate begin between followers of top-ranked Southview and No. 2 Central Catholic (3-0), the preseason favorites in the Northern Lakes League and City League, respectively. The Cougars get the early nod here because their three wins have been collectively more decisive.

Bellevue earned the top spot in D-III thanks to its 36-20 win over Clyde on Friday night.

Although Genoa's 171-7 collective scoring edge over

opponents through three weeks is the area's most decisive margin, Fostoria claims the No. 1 slot in D-IV over the Comets because of Redmen wins over D-II Bowling Green and D-I Whitmer.

It was a toss-up in D-V between No. 1 Liberty-Benton and No. 2 Patrick Henry for the first poll, but the first nod goes to the Eagles, despite their loss to PH in last year's regional playoff final.

Hopewell-Loudon marched all the way to the D-VI state final last year before losing to finish 14-1, and the Chieftains remain No. 1 here until another team proves worthy.
