Bobcats stun Devils with Mershman TD

Aaron Mershman scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown with 29 seconds left to lift Bowling Green to a 26-24 win at Springfield.

The Bobcats (2-3, 1-1) started the late rally on its 37-yard line after receiving the kick following a touchdown by Springfield s Damian Smith with 1:50 left.

Mershman, who had 92 rushing yards on seven attempts, scored from 63 yards earlier in the game. He completed 8 of 14 passes for 105 yards.

Eric Page had another sensational game for Springfield (3-2, 1-1) as he rushed for 322 yards on 38 carries and passed for 77 yards. Page scored twice and kicked a 32-yard field goal.

Anthony Wayne trailed 7-3 after the first quarter.

However, the Generals outscored Northview 56-10 over the final three at Cat Stadium in Sylvania.

Anthony Wayne returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, the first an 81-yard return by Alex Bridges. The second was an 80-yard return by David Birsen.

The Generals amassed 430 yards rushing on 45 carries.

Birsen led the way with 163 yards on 12 carries, including an 80-yard score.

James Pollex rushed 12 times for 148 yards and three touchdowns (68, 1, 8). Sean Lubinski added a one-yard score.

Ben Barrett kicked a 24-yard field goal for Anthony Wayne.

Torrence Garland caught two touchdowns (3, 6) from Ryan Kremchek to lead Northview. Kremchek completed 17 of 33 passes for 179 yards. Levi Jasper kicked a 36-yard field goal for the Wildcats.

The visiting Cougars held a 54-0 lead at the half in cruising to an easy victory.

Ja Darian Bowers led Southview (5-0, 2-0) with 110 rushing yards on six carries, including TD runs of 40 and 11.

Ryan Josza added 49 yards on five carries, including a 19-yard TD run, as the Cougars piled up 270 yards on the ground.

Southview s Alex Pidcock was 5-of-7 passing for 71 yards, including a 13-yard TD pass to DeNard Pinckney. Shaun Joplin had two catches for 28 yards and one TD.

Rossford (0-5, 0-2) committed two turnovers, both of which were turned into touchdowns by the Cougars. The Bulldogs finished with 53 total yards to Southview s 388.
