Liberty Center keeps pace by topping Bryan

LIBERTY CENTER The Bryan Bears gave second place Liberty Center a battle last night before falling 22-19.

The Bears (3-5, 2-4 NWOAL) matched the Tigers (7-1, 5-1) score for score. Liberty Center held just a seven-yard advantage in total yardage, 330-323.

Two failed two-point conversions by the Bears and a third-quarter safety for the Tigers were the differences in the game.

Devon Maes paced the Liberty Center attack, hauling in four passes for 127 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown catch.

Alex Nossaman had a big game for Bryan, snaring five Cody Keil passes for 119 yards and touchdown receptions of 55 and 24 yards.

Jake Elling had a pair of touchdown runs for the Tigers.

DELTA Alec Maier had a huge passing night, tossing for five touchdowns to lead Swanton to a road victory. Maier finished 10-of-19 for 221 yards and no interceptions.

Derrek Eitner was Maier's favorite target with six catches for 190 yards and four scores. Mimmo Lytle caught the other TD pass from Maier. Tom Leahy scored the other Bulldog touchdown on a 15-yard rush.

Korbin Smith led Delta with 167 yards on 18 carries and one touchdown. Sammy Arredondo and Eric Puehler each added touchdowns on the ground.

WAUSEON Travis Reynolds and Colin Hughes helped carry the Indians (5-1, 5-3) to victory.

Reynolds rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns (23 and 53 yards) on nine carries, while Hughes picked up 75 yards on 15 rushing attempts, scoring two short touchdowns.

Tyler Deeds opened the scoring for Wauseon on a 95-yard kickoff return and J.D. Douglas hauled in a 35-yard TD pass from Landon Schafner. Brandon Volkman wrapped up the Indians' scoring with a one-yard plunge.

Jordan McCready accounted for both touchdowns for Evergreen (3-5, 2-4).

MONTPELIER Chad Beals ran for 155 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns to pace Hilltop.

Montpelier scored on a 74-yard run by Kyle McCarty and a 51-yard pass from McCarty to Ryan Miser.
