Powell scores 24 for Rams over AW

Damon Powell poured in 24 points as Rogers routed Anthony Wayne 69-47 last night in boys basketball.

Dalante Heard added 14 points for the Rams (3-0), who led 38-23 at the half after outscoring the Generals 23-11 in the second quarter.

Andrew Donnal led Anthony Wayne with nine points.

Ryan Yockey scored the winning basket in the closing seconds to give Northview its first win of the season over host Bowsher. Yockey finished with 12 points.

Leading the way for the Wildcats was Tripper Northrup with 18 points. Devin Simon added 14.

Bowsher (0-3) was paced by T.J. Anderson with 23 points. Robert Davis added 11 and Mike Bromlee 10.

Ke-sean Harris scored 24 points, while Darius Glover had 18 points and seven rebounds, to lead visiting Waite (3-0).

Anthony Barnum tallied 14 points and Jay Hall 11 for Maumee (0-3).

DEFIANCE Shaun Joplin scored 17 points to lead Southview, which opened with a 19-6 advantage after one quarter and held on for the win.

Bernard Pinckney and Tim Hausfeld each added 14 points for the Cougars (3-1).

The Bulldogs cut the deficit to 50-46 with 4:53 remaining before Southview outscored them 10-4 down the stretch.

Alex Keel led Defiance (1-2) with 23 points.

DAYTON Scott trailed by 19 at the half and could not recover as it fell on the road.

Deon Richardson led the Bulldogs (2-1) with 16 points. Kendrick King and Vernon Freeman each added 10 for Scott.

Ryne Drake led Meadowdale (1-2) with 23 points.

MASSILLON Perrysburg jumped out to a 15-2 lead and never looked back as the Yellow Jackets improved to 4-0.

Jake Smith led the way with 18 points. David Hieber added 15 and Charlie Hughes 12 for Perrysburg.

Perry (2-2) made just two free throws the entire game.

FREMONT Fremont Ross led by four at the half and held on for the victory at home.

Shunna Gamble led the Little Giants (1-2) with 11, and Andrew House added 10.

Xavier Brown led the Bobcats (0-3) with 14 points and Patrick Graham added 13.

GENOA Genoa got off to a strong start leading 20-4 after the first quarter.

Jon Lester led the Comets (2-1) with 13 points, and Matt Bassitt added 12.

Kevin Young led the Rockets (1-2) with 14 points, and Stephen Young added 10.

ELMORE Justin Garver s 18 points paced the Wildcats victory.

But it was Bryan Kuhlman s 13 (10 in the fourth) and Robert Schumacher s 10 (four in fourth) that helped Woodmore outscore the Redskins 21-9 to cement the win. Chris Jacobson also had 10 points for the Wildcats (1-2).

Derek Colston had 28 points for Port Clinton (1-3).

Ricky Deichart scored 14 points and Omar Nazzal 12 to lead Maumee Valley (2-1).

Chris Casey had 12 points for North Baltimore (2-1).

FAIRVIEW 71, WAUSEON 58

WAUSEON Ben Wonderly scored 12 of his 28 points in the third quarter to help Fairview pull away in the second half.

The Apaches (2-1) led 39-33 at the break. They made 7 of 17 3-pointers and 18 of 28 free throws in the game.

Travis Wiles added 11 points and James Elchinger 10 for Fairview.

Jordan Brock led Wauseon with six 3-pointers for 18 points, helping the Indians finish 9-of-19 from beyond the arc.

Michael Thompson chipped in with 15 points and Tyler Hinkle 10.

TALLMADGE 57, LIBERTY-BENTON 56

Ed Householder scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Tallmadge in the overtime win.

Aaron Craft led Liberty-Benton with 20 points and five assists.

Derek Recker added 13 points and five rebounds for the Eagles.

BELLEVUE 60, TIFFIN COLUMBIAN 59

TIFFIN Zane Huston hit the game-winner at the buzzer on an assist from Cody Ruhlman to give Bellevue the victory.

Jeff Roth led the Redmen (3-1, 1-1 NOL) with 22 points. Huston finished with 14 points, and Ruhlman had 12.

Jared Kuhlman had 13 points for the Tornadoes (3-1, 1-1). Ethan Kagy chipped in with 11.

ROSSFORD 79, SWANTON 35

Rossford outscored Swanton 34-8 in the first quarter on its way to a victory at home.

Zach Leahy led the Rossford Bulldogs (3-0) with 27 points. Tommy Kralovic added 18 and Ollie Goss 10.

Travis Hilton led Swanton, also the Bulldogs with 12 points.

ST. MARY S 65, DANBURY 56

SANDUSKY Dane Windisch with 21 points and Aaron Sennish with 15 helped the Panthers get their first victory.

Michael Hamann had 19 and Hunter Stephens 15 for 0-2 Danbury.

Girls:

NORTHVIEW 61, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 54

The Wildcats built a 26-17 lead by the half and held off the Irish behind Olivia Fouty s 25 points.

Central stayed close by connecting on five 3-pointers, including three from Kristen Murnen, who finished with 10 points. Brianna Jones led the Irish with 20 points.

WAITE 49, NOTRE DAME 45

Mariah Haynes scored 12 points, Natasha Howard had 11 and Amanda Gregory 10 to lead Waite (2-2, 2-1 CL).

Jasmine Blanton tallied 14 points for Notre Dame (2-3, 1-2).

BOWSHER 68, DEFIANCE 58

DEFIANCE Only four girls scored for Bowsher in its road victory over Defiance. Golden Brown and Taye Carswell each scored 23 to lead the Rebels (2-1). Ciara Hudson added 14 points and 15 rebounds. Taylor Brown scored the other eight points.

Mikaela Tolbert led Defiance (2-2) with 20 points. Kiersten Lehman added 16 for the Bulldogs.

LIBERTY CENTER 35, SCOTT 33

LIBERTY CENTER Liberty Center outscored Scott in only the second quarter (15-6), but it was enough for the victory as it held on at home.

Kaitlin Rohrs led a balanced Tigers (5-2) attack with eight points.

Ashayla Yancey led Scott (3-1) with 12 points.

VAN BUREN 56, ELMWOOD 27

BLOOMDALE Elmwood trailed by just six heading into the final quarter but was outscored 21-4 in the fourth, as it lost at home.

Rachel Adolf scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Van Buren. Laura Thornton added 14 points and Chelsie Faine 10 for the Black Knights.

OLD FORT 58, EMMANUEL 23

OLD FORT Brittany Stults had 16 points and Hailey Koeble 16 for Old Fort (2-4).

Emily Loomis led Emmanuel Christian with 10 points.

OAK HARBOR 62, PORT CLINTON 34

PORT CLINTON Sara Lipstraw scored 15 points with eight assists and Kayla Diefenthaler tallied 10 points and seven rebounds to lead Oak Harbor (2-3).

Becca Day had 11 points and Bethany Buchanan 10 for the Redskins.
