Stanley's 18 leads host St. Francis at Knight Classic

Storm Stanley scored 18 points to lead host St. Francis to the title in the inaugural Knight Christmas Classic with a 69-55 win over Olmsted Falls Saturday night in boys basketball.

Brody Henry was the tourney's MVP on the strength of 28 points and 15 rebounds in the two-game set.

Kent Goldsmith chipped in a dozen for the 3-2 Knights.

Don Kimmey scored 13 for 3-4 Olmsted Falls.

In the consolation game of the Knight Christmas Classic at St. Francis, free throws were the difference in Anthony Wayne's first win of the season.

The Generals (1-7) were 18-of-23 from the line compared to 2-of-11 for the Eagles (2-3).

Cam Walton, who led AW with 20 points, was 14-for-15 from the line. Brad Celusta and Andrew Donnal added 12 points apiece for the Generals.

Ethan Michael paced TC with 17 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists and five blocked shots.

BOWSHER 72, WHITEFORD 51

The Rebels won the title at Emmanuel Christian's Warrior Classic as coach John Rice went against the team he guided for 30 seasons.

Robert Davis paced Bowsher (3-3) with 25 points, T. J. Anderson had 20 and Demetris Kizer added 10. The Rebels built a 47-21 halftime lead then coasted to their third straight win.

Whiteford (2-2) was led by Jake DuPree with 20 points.

ROSSFORD 83, CLAY 81

In a shootout at Rossford, the Bulldogs got a pair of free throws from Tyler Kralovic with two seconds remaining to edge Clay.

Kralovic had 13 points in the game.

Zach Leahy led Rossford (5-2) with 22 points, Tommy Kralovic had 20 points and a team-high eight rebounds and Jon Reitz added 10 points in the win.

The Eagles (1-3), who took a 66-65 lead to the final quarter, wasted a 25-point, 14-rebound effort from Andrew Kuns. Terrelle Huggins had 24 points and five rebounds, and Matt Swaim pitched in with 16 points and seven boards for Clay.

ST. John's 74,

Bowling Green 43

Tim Simmons' 15 points and 12 each from TJ Gillespie and Cheatham Norrils powered the Titans (5-2) past the Bobcats (3-4).

St. John's Jesuit's defense held Bowling Green to fewer than nine points in each of the first three quarters. The Titans led 57-21 at the end of three.

Chauncey Orr led BG with 13, and Xavier Brown chipped in 10.

The Panthers rebounded from deficits of 11-0 to start the game and 34-23 at the half to get their first win of the year.

After hitting only 9 of 27 shots in the first two quarters, Whitmer (1-4) connected on 14-of-29 to pull off the comeback. The Panthers were led by 20 points from Kenny Hayes, who added 13 rebounds. Dareon Jones and Mike Szymanski totaled 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Wildcats (2-5) were paced by Tripper Northrup's 12 points.

Rogers held Dayton Stivers to just five points in the second quarter while scoring 18 and went on to an easy win.

Dalante Heard and Jeren Morris led the points parade with 16 each, and Damon Powell added 14 as the Rams upped their record to 4-1.

Aaron Stewart scored 13 for the losing visitors.

Darius Glover scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Waite remain unbeaten.

Ke-sean Harris added 18 points, while Antonio Allen finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Dishon Harris netted 10 points for the Indians (5-0).

Jeremy Quallis led Walnut Ridge (3-3) with 21 points.

OTTAWA-GLANDORF 70,

OTTAWA - Taylor Kuhlman mixed five 3-pointers into a 30-point effort as the defending Division III state champion Titans went to 5-0 by handing Perrysburg its second straight loss. Colton Everett added 16 points for O-G.

The Yellow Jackets (6-2) got 27 points from Charlie Hughes and 17 from David Hieber.

In the consolation game of the Warrior Classic, host Emmanuel Christian committed 10 turnovers in falling behind 23-3 after one quarter and could never dig out of that hole. Gerry Sebby and Ryan Bowering topped the winning Cougars (3-1) with 13 points apiece. The Warriors (1-4), who were 8-of-28 from the field, were paced by Stephen Behan's 17 points.

SWANTON - Ryan Johnson scored 10 of his team-high 17 points in the final eight minutes, including three 3-pointers, as the host Bulldogs used a 21-15 fourth quarter to earn their first win. Dylan Worley added 14 points for Swanton (1-4).

The Rangers (1-4) got within one point on Chris Keith's 3-pointer with nine seconds left, but failed to get a shot off after Worley missed the front end of a bonus chance at the line. Ryan Canaday had 23 points for Northwood, and Charles Artino added 14.

EASTWOOD 62, DELTA 60

DELTA - The Eagles almost wasted an 11-point halftime advantage, but Matt Schlumbohm scored four of his team-high 13 points in overtime to lead Eastwood to the win.

Clayton Ruch joined Schlumbohm in double-figures with 12 points. For the Panthers, Nate Jackson scored 13, Jeremy Navarro 11, and Chaz Rash 10.

STRITCH 41, WOODMORE 35

ELMORE - The Cardinals clamped down defensively, holding Woodmore to just nine second-half points including three in the fourth quarter.

Johnny Newis topped Stritch with nine points and Marcus Drummond added eight for the Cards (2-3). Pierce Fonseca and Chris Jacobson led the Wildcats (1-4) with eight points apiece.

KANSAS - Eli Hipsher scored 13, Nate Hammer added 12 and Alex Shontz 10 to lead St. Wendelin.

PETTISVILLE - The host Blackbirds used a 24-15 fourth quarter to break open a close game and stay perfect at 5-0 behind 20 points from Michael Deffely. Quinn Nofziger added 16 points and Jordan Klopfenstein 14 for Pettisville in this non-league battle of neighboring towns. Archbold (3-4) was paced by 15 points from Collin Walker and 13 from David Rupp.

HAMLER - The Royals (1-3) built a 35-24 halftime lead and claimed their first win of the season behind 16 points from Michael Huettner, and 14 points and eight rebounds from Adam Tyson. The Patriots (2-2) got 11 points from Aaron George and 10 from Dylan Tonjes.

CASTALIA - Junior forward Ryan Hicks tallied a game-high 30 points for the winning Redskins, who climbed to 3-3 overall and 3-0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference. Margaretta dropped to 3-1, 2-1.

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio - A free throw from Iesha Pernell with 17 seconds remaining gave Scott a victory over East Cleveland Shaw, moving the Bulldogs to a perfect 8-0. Last season, the Bulldogs were 6-13.

Trailing 23-17 at the half, Scott got rolling in the second half behind the play of Alisha Matthews, who scored all eight of her points after the intermission. Scott outscored Shaw 13-8 in the third quarter to cut the lead to one.

After making only one free throw in the opening half, the Bulldogs cashed in with 15 second-half points from the line, ending with Pernell's decisive toss.

Scott was led by Ashayla Yancey's 13 points. She was joined in double-figures by Shekinah Alexander, who scored 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

WEST CHESTER, Ohio - Brianna Jones had 10 points to lead the Irish in the losing effort against Lakota West, ranked third in the state in the Division I.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio - The Generals hung around for most of the game but let the Bengals outscore them 21-14 in the third quarter as they fell at the Kroger Holiday Classic.

Allison Papenfuss and Ashley Bromley each scored 14 points for Anthony Wayne (4-2), but the Generals had all kinds of problems with Lynette Holmes, who poured in 24 points.

The visiting Eagles flew to a 28-11 halftime lead and didn't look back. Nicole Steinmetz had nine points to lead nine Clay scorers. Anne Yenrick had 10 for the Bulldogs (0-7).

BOWLING GREEN - The Knights (4-4) used a 22-14 fourth quarter to force overtime, then outscored the host Bobcats 12-7 in the extra period to take the win.

Baley Bernthisel scored eight of her 19 points during the fourth-quarter rally. Ashley Holzwartz had 15 points and Katelyn Downing 12 for the Knights.

BG (3-5) was paced by Liz Hammer's 24 points, Stanisha Taylor had 14, and Jessica Sikula 12 for the Bobcats, who missed a potential game-winning shot with two seconds left.

EASTWOOD 52, SWANTON 46

PEMBERVILLE - Paige Onweller drilled a 3-pointer for Swanton with five seconds left in regulation, but overtime belonged to the home team as the Eagles (2-5) came away with a nonconference victory.

Eastwood scored all of its points in the extra period from the line, connecting on 9 of 12 free throws. Defensively, the Eagles stifled the Bulldogs, limiting Swanton (1-5) to an Onweller 3-pointer.

The Eagles were led by Brooke Gottfried's 17 points, while teammate Emily Bockbrader had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Swanton's Onweller led all scorers with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Ashlee Polkinghorn and Danielle Bezeau added 13 points apiece for the Bulldogs.

FOSTORIA - Lauren Lind had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Rebekah Will added 13 points as the Flyers improved to 8-0. Francena Tate had 11 for the Mohawks (4-2).

BLOOMDALE - Emily Reynolds scored 18 points to lead 10 players in the scoring column for Elmwood (2-5).

ARCADIA - Arcadia outscored the Raiders 12-0 in the fourth quarter to gain the victory. Kendal Moses led the Redskins with 14 and Rachelle Palmer had 11.

Jessica Williams scored seven of her 11 in the first quarter when Libbey outscored the visitors 20-7.
