A first at Ottawa Park: Winter Classic

Lake goalie Tony Horvath comes up with a save late in the third period Monday night against Ottawa Hills in the inaugural Winter Classic played at Ottawa Park Ice Rink. The Flyers won the contest 5-3, moving their record to 7-3-1.

Scoring for Lake were Duncan Vail (two goals), R.J. Schultz, Keith Miller and Gabe Pinciotti. Horvath finished with 22 saves, while his counterpart on the other end of the ice for Ottawa Hills, Chris Brue, had 32 saves in the losing effort. Mickey Reams, Ryan Burzynski and Michael Deckebach scored for the Green Bears.

An open skate was held after the game with both teams players and families. It was a great experience, defi nitely something we re planning on doing again next year, Ottawa Hills coach Tom McKinch said.
