Palmer leads Genoa to win over Lakota

GENOA - Josh Palmer scored 16 points in the second quarter to lead Genoa to a 72-45 rout of Lakota Friday night in the Suburban Lakes League.

Palmer hit four 3-pointers and finished with a team-leading 20 points. Jon Lester added 12 points and Matt Bassitt chipped in with 11.

Marcus Vicars led Genoa in rebounds with 12 and Richard Wonnell had 10.

Jake Wiseman tallied 14 points for Lakota and Jacob Smith added 10.

Otsego 52, Gibsonburg 45

GIBSONBURG - Matt Weisenborn scored 13 points and R.J. Hefflinger contributed 10 as Otsego defeated Gibsonburg.

The Knights (9-5, 6-5) committed only 10 turnovers to 20 for the Golden Bears, who scored just four points in the third quarter.

Tony Egbert was high-point man for Gibsonburg (7-8, 5-6) with 17 and T.J. Bowen chipped in with 12.

Eastwood 66, Lake 47

PEMBERVILLE - Eastwood outscored Lake by eight points in the first quarter and closed big with a 12-point advantage in the final period.

Jayson Faykosh scored 20 and Clay Rolf 12 for Eastwood (14-2). Alex Cordell had 15 and Mike Mathews 12 for Lake (3-14).

Woodmore 55, Elmwood 44

ELMORE - The Wildcats held the Royals to just five points in the second quarter.

Chris Jacobson led Woodmore (7-10, 5-7) with 13 points, while Brock Avers and Robert Schumacher scored 10 apiece.

Adam Tyson paced Elmwood (9-5, 7-4) with 18 points and Wyatt Ault added 13.
