SLL: Rolf, outside shooting spark Eastwood win

PEMBERVILLE - Eastwood continued to roll in the Suburban Lakes League, hitting 7 of 12 3-pointers last night in a 64-38 win over Gibsonburg.

Clay Rolf worked inside, however, and led the Eagles (16-2, 13-0) with 19 points. Mark Schult added 13.

Lee Renner paced Gibsonburg (8-10, 5-8) with 12 points and Tony Egbert added 11.

Eastwood led 20-7 after one quarter and 39-13 at the half.

GENOA - Down 29-9 at the end of the first half, Otsego outscored Genoa by one point in the third quarter and roared back with an almost unbelievable 34 points in the final period to send the game into overtime.

The Comets then regained their defensive composure and took a 14-9 scoring advantage in the overtime period.

Jon Lester led Genoa (12-7, 9-4) with 19 points, Matt Bassitt added 17 and Richard Wonnell scored 10.

Matt Weisenborn led Otsego (10-7, 7-6) with 24 points. R.J. Hefflinger scored 17 and Tony Gerwin had 12.

Otsego made more 3-point shots, 14, than it did 2-pointers, 13. Otsego was 1-14 from beyond the arc in the first half but zeroed in to find the range for 13-of-25 in the second half and overtime period.

Genoa made four 3-pointers but had a 19-6 advantage in free throws.

ELMORE - The Wildcats jumped out to a 26-15 lead at the half and dominated throughout.

Chris Jacobson led all scorers with 19 and Justin Garver added 13 for Woodmore (9-10, 6-7).

Michael Mathews paced Lake (4-14, 1-11) with 11 points.

KANSAS - Adam Tyson scored 18 points and Thor Bottesch had 15 to lead Elmwood.

Jacob Smith led the Raiders with 16. Dillon Winke, who was 7-for-9 at the free throw line, tallied 13 points and Jake Wiseman added 11.
