BATTLE CREEK, Mich. The Monroe Trojans rallied for three runs to forge a 3-3 tie in the top of the sixth inning of yesterday s Division 1 state softball semifi nal at Bailey Park, but New Baltimore Anchor Bay answered with two runs in its half of the sixth and hung on for a 5-3 victory.

Monroe (25-11) started its rally when pitcher Emily Pilon was hit by a pitch leading off the sixth. Amber Rafko added a single, and teammates Sydney Smith, Ashley Everett and Katlyn Whitmarsh followed with RBI singles for the Trojans.

But the Tars (36-3) used a hit batsman, two singles, and a Monroe error to retake the lead and advance to today s D-1 final.
