Jackets, Panthers improve to 4-0

Matt Marquette hauled in four touchdown passes as Perrysburg remained perfect with a 47-0 Northern Lakes League home victory over Rossford.

The Yellow Jackets (4-0, 1-0) held Rossford (0-4, 0-1) to just 86 offensive yards and led 41-0 at halftime. Matt Slocom was 7 of 10 passing for 120 yards and three touchdowns - all to Marquette - and rushed for a seven-yard TD.

Slocum's brother, Steve, hooked up with Marquette on a 10-yard TD pass. Marquette finished with five catches for 106 yards. Also scoring touchdowns for Perrysburg were Micah Carter (47-yard run) and Matt Kruzel (25-yard run). Carter amassed 69 yards on six attempts.

Rossford's Alex LaPointe rushed for 34 yards on eight tries.

At Maumee, the Panthers rolled and stayed undefeated behind big nights from Jake Goatley and Eric Long.

Goatley completed 14 of 21 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns, a 76-yarder to Jon Hall to open the scoring and one of 20 yards to Damon Contat.

Running back Long lugged the ball 12 times for 114 yards and three touchdowns.

Jake Schneider had a 67-yard punt return for a score for the Panthers (4-0, 1-0).

Ryan Kremchek had a 12-yard scoring run for the Wildcats (1-3, 0-1) and Zach Crampton had a 22-yard punt return for a score.

BOWLING GREEN - Springfield saved the best for last with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats, led by Alec Cunningham who rushed 17 times for 90 yards and a touchdown, held a 13-10 lead going into the final stanza.

Leroy Alexander connected to Josh Hair for a 89-yard scoring pass play to give the Blue Devils (2-2, 1-0) their first touchdown of the fourth quarter and a 17-13 lead. Alexander then finished the scoring with a two-yard run.

Alexander was 4 of 16 passing for 208 yards and ran 15 times for 55 yards. Hair caught two passes for 135 yards.

Springfield held a 305-236 advantage in total yards. The Bobcats (0-4, 0-1) held a 149-97 yard rushing advantage but only had 87 yards in the air.
