Bedford's Cousineau wins diving title

HOLLAND, Mich. - Bedford senior Cheyenne Cousineau won her third consecutive state diving title at the Michigan state meet last week.

Cousineau, who has signed a national letter of intent to compete at Ohio State, finished with 469.20 points to win the 1-meter competition in Division 1. Her nearest competitor, Ashley Hardy of Utica, finished nearly 37 points behind Cousineau.

The Mules also got strong performances from several swimmers to finish seventh in the team competition.

The top Bedford individual was senior Kirstin Stark, who placed third in 50 freestyle with a 23.92 clocking. Stark also was fourth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.83, while freshman Hanna Martin finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke.

Bedford's 200 Free relay of Kirstin Stark, freshman Kelsey Stark, junior Annie Pennington, and Martin was fourth with a time of 1:38.91, while the 400 free relay of Kirsten Stark, sophomore Zoe Hopkins, Martin and Pennington finished with a time of 3:37.90 that was good for fifth.

Saline won the Division 1 team title.
