Eagles beat Magnificat

Notre Dame used a 17-9 second-quarter run to build a lead it never relinquished in a 54-37 win over Rocky River Magnificat in girls basketball.

Cat Wells finished with a game-high 14 points while Alex Adamski added 12 to lead the Eagles.

Paige Wise topped Magnificat with 10 points.

Findlay 52, St. Ursula 40

The Trojans' Ashley Miller scored eight of her game-high 17 points in the final quarter as Findlay outscored the host Arrows 18-10 to pull away.

Holly Barton had 11 while Danielle Sallisbury added 10 for the Trojans.

St. Ursula was led by 12 points from Maddie Strall.

Clay 53, Fremont Ross 26

The host Eagles bolted to a 16-3 lead after one quarter, extended it to 26-5 at halftime, and were never challenged.

Nicole Steinmetz finished with 13 points while Meghan Scharer added 10 for Clay.

Southview 52, Bowling Green 21

The Cougars used a 24-2 second-quarter blitz to cruise to the home victory.

Tiffany Scott led all scorers in this Northern Lakes League contest with 17 points for Southview.

Stanisha Taylor's six points were tops for the Bobcats.

Anthony Wayne 55, Rossford 35

Emma Ricketts and Danielle Smith each scored seven points in the second quarter as the Generals used a 19-8 second-quarter run to secure the home win.

Ricketts finished with 14 points and Hayley Barrett had 12 while Smith added nine for Anthony Wayne.

Courtney Trenchik scored 15 while Ashley Cassavore had 12 for Rossford.

Springfield 38, Maumee 29

The Blue Devils used an 11-2 run in the third quarter to claim the road victory.

Danisha Brown finished with a game-high 11 points to lead Springfield, while Julia Mauro topped Maumee with seven.

Eastwood 51, Lakota 40

KANSAS - Sisters Kerri and Jimmi Gangwer each made 9 of 12 free throws to help the visiting Eagles connect on 25 of 37 free throws in the contest.

Jimmi Gangwer finished with 17 points, Kerri Gangwer had 15 and Ashley Seifert added 13 for Eastwood.

Kaela Wiseman had a game-high 18 points for the Raiders while Amy Gosche scored 11.

Woodmore 47, Port Clinton 46

ELMORE - Audrey Thorbahn scored seven of her 15 points in the final quarter to lead the Wildcats to the home win.

Melissa Busdeker added 11 points for Woodmore.

Bethany Buchanan finished with a game-high 22 while Becca Day added 10 for Port Clinton.

Patrick Henry 53, Ayersville 42

HAMLER - The Patriots outscored Ayersville 17-5 in the third quarter to claim the home victory.

Tiffany Ehlers scored a game-high 23 points while Krystin Reiser added 10 for PH.

Holgate 50, Stryker 46,

STRYKER - Hannah Stevens finished with 16 points while Morgan Keeterlee added 12 as the Tigers improved to 2-0 with the road victory.

Brooke Ruffer had 15 points and Megan Rupp 10 for the Panthers.

St. Joseph 30, Cardinal Stritch 25

Fremont St. Joseph trailed by seven points 20-13 going into the fourth quarter but outscored Cardinal Stritch 17-5 in the final period to take a 30-25 victory at Stritch.

Jessica Molyet, who led both teams in scoring, made 7 of her 11 points in the strong finish by the Streaks. Marissa Zaborski and Ellie McCloskey led Stritch, each with 6 points.

Liberty Center 43, Fayette 38

FAYETTE - Trailing by two points at the half, Liberty Center came out strong in the third quarter and outscored Fayette 13-6 in the period and hung on for a victory. Both teams scored 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Kaitlyn Hogrefe scored 15 points to lead Liberty Center to its second victory in two nights to open the season. Rachel Seiler scored 15 for Fayette in its season opener.
