Big third quarter helps Irish get past Arrows

Sierra Calhoun and Alexxis Knannlein each had 17 points to pace Central Catholic to a 51-44 victory over St. Ursula Monday night in a City League girls basketball game.

Leading just 31-30 at halftime, the Irish (4-0, 3-0 CL) outscored the Arrows 14-6 in the third quarter.

Helen Anderson scored 20 points and Maddie Strall added 11, but St. Ursula (1-4, 1-2) couldn't overcome 26 turnovers.

Maleeka Kynard paced the host Spartans (4-0, 3-0 City) with 22 points, Cedar Evans added 16 and Keia McCarver and Azia Bishop each scored 12.

Makeeta Allen topped the Cowboys with 11 points.

The visiting Indians (4-0, 3-0 CL) rolled to a easy win behind Natasha Howard's 30 points and Shanice McNeal's 19.

Ciara Hudson had 16 for the Rebels (3-2, 2-1).

Kristin Bigelow paced the host Hawks (1-2) to a home victory, scoring 18 points and passing out six assists.

Shekinah Alexander scored 26 points and Tiarra Hague added 12 to lead the visiting Bulldogs.

Dateshia Wysinger tallied 11 for the Polar Bears.
