NLL girls: Mesker scores 17 to lift Perrysburg

BOWLING GREEN - Erin Mesker, a 5-11 senior post player, scored 10 of her team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Yellow Jackets to a 53-42 victory over Bowling Green.

Mesker also supplied seven rebounds, while teammate Alyssa Goins contributed eight points for Perrysburg (9-2, 5-1).

Jessica Sikula topped the Bobcat scoring with 15 points and Hayley Williford added 13.

Bowling Green falls to 6-6 and 2-4.

With about a minute and a half to go and her team leading by only two points, Sylvania Southview's Ariel Gaston was fouled, made the first of two free throws, then purposely missed the second, and the Cougars (10-2, 5-1 NLL) held on to grab a victory over Anthony Wayne.

Gaston paced Southview with 11 points and Taylor Hall had 10.

The teams were tied at 18-all at the end of the first half, then Southview edged ahead by outscoring the Generals by two in the third period to set up the down-to-the-wire finish.

Emma Ricketts had 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Anthony Wayne (6-5, 2-4).

The Wildcats broke open a close game with a 19-8 third quarter scoring advantage.

Miriam Justinger led the charge, scoring all 11 of her points in the third period.

Olivia Fouty led Northview (9-2, 5-1) with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Springfield (8-3, 4-2) which led 19-18 at the half, was paced by Briaunna Nix with seven points.

Rossford's Courtney Trenchik accounted for 20 of the Bulldogs' 42 points in the win over visting Maumee.

Rossford was up 19-9 at the half and edged a resurgent Panther team in the second half 23-20.

Kyle Rubini led Maumee with nine points.
