To explain their 57-50 City League loss last night at Libbey, the Waite Indians didn't need to look much further on the stat sheet than the shooting column.

Fresh off their uplifting win last week over Rogers, the Indians (5-5, 3-2 CL) were undone on this night by 15-of-64 shooting from the field, including a 1-for-15 effort on 3-pointers.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys (7-3, 4-1) managed to shake off their own woes

— 22 turnovers — and maintain enough composure to withstand several Waite runs in the final 3:36. The Indians trimmed an eight-point deficit to 44-42, and the game turned into a free-throw shooting contest down the stretch.

It may not have been pretty, but that didn't matter much toond-year Libbey head coach Keith McClure, whose own team hit just 17 of its 44 shots from the field and was 19-of-31 from the foul line.

"I'll take it," McClure said. "A win is a win. The kids fought. It went back and forth, and the kids hung in there. That's something we can build on."
