Southview rallies past Central

Southview trailed Central Catholic 29-20 at the half in a Division I girls sectional opener Tuesday night, but the Cougars rallied for a 56-53 win at Clay.

Southview's Ariel Gaston tallied a game-high 24 points. The Cougars (18-3) outscored the Irish 23-9 in the third quarter. Tiffany Scott and Taylor Hall each scored 10 for the Cougars.

Central ends its season with a 10-10 record. Sierra Calhoun tallied 20 points and Jaime Sobczak added 15 for the Irish.

DIVISION I

CLAY 61, ROGERS 28

Megan Agoston led Clay (11-9, 5-5 CL) with 18 points as the Eagles took command quickly to lead 41-9 at the end of the first half at Central Catholic. Latisha White led Rogers (3-16, 1-11) with 12.

WHITMER 45, ST. URSULA 38

April Anderson paced the Panthers with 15 points in the win at Clay.

Malisa Hoak added 13 for Whitmer (8-11).

Maddie Strall led all scorers with 19 points for St. Ursula (6-14).

SPRINGFIELD 60, BOWLING GREEN 45

Keyonna Gregory led Springfield with 12 points in a win. Lauren Roy had 11 and Erika Thompson 10 for the Blue Devils (14-7).

Bowling Green (9-12) was led by Hayley Williford's 14 points. Bethany Hoehner chipped in with 13.

ANTHONY WAYNE 49, LIMA SENIOR 38

Molly Hilfinger scored six of her team-high 11 points in the Generals' win at Otsego.

Emma Ricketts and Danielle Smith each scored 10 points for AW (8-13).

Jennifer Kemper led Lima Senior with 12 points.

DIVISION II

WAUSEON 62, DEFIANCE 31

SWANTON — Bailey Creager scored 14 points, and Chloe Stiriz 13 to pace Wauseon (18-3) at Swanton.

SCOTT 57, MAUMEE 51

SWANTON — Shekinah Alexander scored 28 points to lead Scott (9-10). Iesha Pernell added 16. Kyle Rubini scored 20 for Maumee (2-19).

DIVISION III

GENOA 39, NORTHWOOD 28

The Comets (15-6) rolled behind 16 points from Alyssa Meis and 12 from Julie Swartzmiller.

Becca Bisbee scored 11 for the Rangers (9-12).

TINORA 52, SWANTON 22

DEFIANCE — Ashley Meyer led the way with 15 points while Anna Steffel added 13 and Kendra McCann 10 for Tinora (19-2).

ROSSFORD 48, CARDINAL STRITCH 34

Courtney Trenchik tossed in 21 points for the Bulldogs (7-14). Abbey Geraghty added 10.

Nicole Lamb was high-scorer for the Cardinals (6-15) with 10 points.

FOSTORIA 65, EASTWOOD 54

BOWLING GREEN — Fostoria's Aja Hall scored 45 points to advance her team to the sectional final.

Veronica Wonderly added 10 points for the Redmen (8-11).

Kristin Martin led Eastwood (5-12) with 21 points.

MARGARETTA 57, GIBSONBURG 33

Jessica Whetsel and Sam Stainbrook led the Golden Bears (5-13) with 13 points each.

Sarah Weyer netted 11 points for the Polar Bears (7-13).

LAKOTA 59, ELMWOOD 53

BOWLING GREEN — Amy Gosche scored 21 points and Jessica Hoffman added 19 a win. The Raiders (7-10) led 28-22 at halftime.

Sierra Beckford led the Royals (2-14) with 11 points, and Vanessa Schwind and Reagan Briggs followed with 10 a piece.

DIVISION IV

MCCOMB 52, ARCADIA 38

Shelby Wilson had 25 points for the Panthers. Lexis Fleegle had 12 for the Redskins.

ANTWERP 46, MONTPELIER 35

BRYAN — Antwerp held Montpelier to just 4 points in the second quarter. Kaitlynn Schmitt scored 15 points and Kalee Freese 11 in a losing cause for the Locomotives (1-20).

HILLTOP 57, FAYETTE 41

WAUSEON — Kaylee Burkholder had 18 points (12 free throws) and 16 rebounds for Hilltop. Ashley Ames scored 17 points and Jackie Smith scored 11 points.

Rachel Sailer scored 12 points and Katelyn Downing 11 for Fayette.

MICHIGAN

BEDFORD 48, YPSILANTI 30

TEMPERANCE — Lindsay Dager scored 12 points to lead Bedford to a Southeastern Conference win.

Ellen Hays added 10 points for the Mules (8-11, 6-6).
