Findlay ousts St. Francis from high school hockey playoffs

Findlay stunned No. 1-ranked St. Francis de Sales 3-2 in overtime Monday night in a district semifinal hockey game at Tam O'Shanter.

Greg Toupalik scored a power-play goal 1:18 into the extra period for the game winner. Andy Martin scored twice for Findlay (21-8-2), the fourth seed in the tournament.

St. Francis (29-3-3) was the top-ranked team in the state coaches' poll for much of the season. The Knights trailed 2-1 late, but Ben Torchia tied the game with 12.1 seconds left in regulation.

Nate Opblinger also scored for St. Francis.

Findlay goalie Travis Friar finished with 31 saves. St. Francis goalie Jeff Davis made 23 stops.

The Trojans advance to take on Northview (19-8-3) in the district final on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Tam O'Shanter.
