Patrick Henry girls, Archbold boys capture titles

METAMORA - The Patrick Henry girls ended Wauseon's streak of four straight Northwest Ohio Athletic League track titles last night, while the Archbold boys won for the second year in a row.

On the girls side, Patrick Henry claimed six events, with juniors Tori Meyer and Krystin Reiser each winning twice. Meyer finished first in the 100-meter hurdles and the pole vault, and Reiser took first in the high jump and the 400.

The Patriots also prevailed in the 400 relay and in the discus with senior Cara Myer's winning throw.

Patrick Henry totaled 135 points, just three more than Wauseon.

The Indians claimed two events - the 800 relay and senior Tyler Conley in the 300 hurdles.

Archbold had five winners - senior Autumn Lantz in the 100 and 200, junior Trisha King in the 800 and 1600, and freshman Kinsey Smith in the long jump.

Liberty Center was victorious in the 1600 and 3200 relays and added wins from sophomore Chelsea Knapp in the 3200 and sophomore Ali Busick in the shot put.

On the boys side, Archbold posted 154.5 points. Wauseon was second with 132.

The Streaks swept the four relays and had three individual champions - sophomore Danny Young in the 300 hurdles, junior Noah Keefer in the 800 and senior Nathaniel Hammersmith in the 200.

Patrick Henry senior Collin Hogrefe was a repeat winner in the 110 hurdles and added a victory in the long jump, and Delta junior Colin Fisher repeated in the 1600.

Also taking first from Delta were junior Eric Puehler in the 400 and pole vault and senior Elliott Oberneder in the 3200.

Wauseon was strong in the field events, with junior Todd Christy taking the discus and shot put and senior Tyler Deeds claiming the high jump.

Evergreen senior Chad Monaghan took first in the 100.
