Patrick Henry falls to Jeromesville Hillsdale in closing seconds

BOWLING GREEN — Patrick Henry's dream of a state football title ended in heartbreaking fashion Saturday night as the Patriots fell 48-41 to Jeromesville Hillsdale in a Division V regional semifinal at Bowling Green State University's Doyt Perry Stadium.

After Hillsdale saw its 41-20 fourth-quarter lead evaporate, quarterback Trevor Cline connected on a nine-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Moore with nine seconds remaining in the game to end the Patriots' season.

The Patriots (10-2) scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to make the game interesting. Tobey Hernandez caught a four-yard TD pass from Kasey Spence and added a two-yard TD run. Kevin Kline also caught a five-yard TD pass from Spence to tie the game at 41.

Spence led the Patriots with 72 yards rushing on 16 carries. He completed 22 of 32 pass for 310 yards and two touchdowns.

Kyle Bergstedt caught six passes for 110 yards and a touchdown.

Trevor Bardertscher paced Hillsdale (10-2) with 126 yards rushing on 16 attempts. Cline threw for 190 yards, completing 13-of-19 passes. Moore had seven receptions for 146 yards and three touchdowns.
