Bedford's bid for its first Class A state championship since 2005 fell one match short Friday night.
The Kicking Mules were stopped by Farmington Hills Mercy in a 3-1 thriller, with Mercy taking the match 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-21 at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.
Mercy will take on Bloomfield Hills Marian in Saturday's 2 p.m. championship. Marian topped East Kentwood 25-14, 25-19, 25-14 in the other semifinal.
Emily Blank and Anna Hays had 17 and 15 kills, respectively, for Temperance Bedford (65-11-2 overall).
