BOYS BASKETBALL: Knights edge Jackets in OT; Loving leads Titans with 30

St. Francis 59, Perrysburg 52

St. Francis rallied in the fourth quarter and went on to beat Perrysburg Friday night in overtime in boys basketball.

The host Knights outscored the Yellow Jackets 16-6 in the fourth to tie the game at 46.

Cody St. Claire scored 17 points, Danny Yodziz had 15, and Nate White 12 for the Knights (1-0).

Jake Pfleghaar led Perrysburg with 10.

St. Francis made 16 of 31 free throw attempts, while Perrysburg made 11 of 18.

St. John's 74, Shaker Heights 71

Sophomore Marc Loving scored 24 of his 30 points in the second half as St. John's rallied to defeat Shaker Heights.

The host Titans outscored the Raiders 23-15 in the third period.

Zach Steinmetz contributed 13 points for St. John's, which held an 18-4 edge at the free-throw line.

Loving had 13 rebounds and was 9 for 9 from the free-throw line.

Woodward 61, Lima Temple Christian 56

The Polar Bears outscored Lima Temple 11-6 in overtime to post a victory.

Jalen Wells had 18 points to lead Woodward (1-0). Derrick Ramsey had 10 points and Brandon Wyatt had 12 rebounds.

Austin Sutton had 20 points for Lima Temple (0-1) with Josh Krochler chipping in 10 points.

Maumee 53, Scott 43

Austin Nowak scored 12 points and Anthony Barnum had 10 to lead the Panthers to a home victory in the opening game for both teams.

Jordan Holmes led the Bulldogs with 10 points.

Domonique Chamblee had 14 points for Scott to lead all scorers.

Northview 56, Clay 46

The Wildcats rallied from a 16-2 first quarter deficit to post a victory over Clay.

Jacob Sturt had 17 points for Northview (1-0) and Denzel Wheaton had 13.

Stefan Gaskins scored 15 for Clay (0-1) while Doug Waldmannstetter had 13.

Ottawa Hills 45, Woodmore 34

Andrew Jamieson hit four 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 24 points to lead the Green Bears.

J.J. Buckey pumped in 12 for Ottawa Hills.

Grant Weirich led Woodmore with 16 points and Jon Sandwisch finished with 11.

Findlay 61, Fostoria 24

FINDLAY - C.J. Gettys scored a game-high 16 points and Brock Amons provided 12 to lead the Trojans past backyard rival Fostoria in a season-opener.

Findlay led 15-7 after one quarter and never looked back.

Adonis Cousin led Fostoria with eight points.

Gibsonburg 65, Danbury 57

GIBSONBURG - Logan Jones pumped in 13 of his game-high 19 points after halftime to lead the Golden Bears to a season-opening win over the Lakers.

Dylan Dorrmeyer provided 15 points on five 3-pointers while Adam Clark and Jeremy Helmkey scored 10 apiece for Gibsonburg.

Caleb Helline scored 14 points for Danbury and Hunter Stephens added 11.

Port Clinton 44, Bellevue 40

PORT CLINTON -- Derek Colston and Aaron Mier paced the Redskins with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Bellevue's Jalen Santoro scored a game-high 17 points.

Defiance 69, Napoleon 63

DEFIANCE - Doug Herrett poured in a game-high 23 points to lead the Bulldogs to a victory in overtime.

Anthony Khoston and Josh Scott added 18 and 12 points, respectively for Defiance.

Fulton Lanrenau scored 23 points to lead Napoleon.
