Early lead paces Irish to win

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 68, LIMA SENIOR 50

A quick start helped the Irish jumped out to an early lead over the Spartans en route to a win in Three Rivers Athletic Conference girls basketball on Thursday night.

Jamie Sobczak led Central Catholic (3-2, 3-1) with 18 points.

Jen Vliet added 10 for the Irish.

Indya Benjamin was the leading scorer for Lima Senior with 21 points.

Airika Callahan added 16 points.

 

WHITMER 54, CLAY 27

The Panthers evened their conference record with a home win over Clay.

Keshyra McCarver had 12 points for Whitmer (3-2, 2-2 TRAC) with Samantha Meinen contributing 11 points.

Haley Kubicki scored nine for Clay (0-5, 0-4).

 

FINDLAY 57, FREMONT ROSS 42

FINDLAY -- The Trojans built a 37-23 halftime lead and cruised to the home win.

Christina McQueen had 17 points and Zoe Swisher added 12 for Findlay (2-3, 2-2 TRAC).

Samantha Michael had 12 to lead the Little Giants.

 

NORTHWOOD 74, EMMANUEL CHRISTIAN 25

Becca Bigbee scored 35 points to lead the host Rangers to the easy victory.

Bigbee had 13 points after one quarter and 22 at halftime as Northwood built leads of 23-3 and 41-11.

Sandy Koch also finished in double figures with 12 points for Northwood.

Cassidy Daniels scored 11 points to lead Emmanuel Christian.

 

OTTAWA HILLS 52, CARDINAL STRITCH 37

The host Cardinals (0-4, 0-2 Toledo Area Athletic Conference) fell behind 19-4 after the first quarter and never recovered fully.

The Green Bears (3-0, 2-0) were paced by 23 points from Caroline Arnos and 13 from Nancy Rumpf.

Cardinal Stritch was led by Abby Mass with 14 points, 10 coming from the free-throw line.

 

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 49, MAUMEE VALLEY 10

Camille Gist scored 14 points as the Eagles (3-1, 2-0 TAAC) defeated the Hawks.

Maumee Valley dropped to 0-3 overall, 0-2 in the TAAC with the loss.

 

McCOMB 51, VAN BUREN 33

McCOMB -- Briana Herr had 18 points as the Panthers improved to 4-1 on the season. Kristen Buck added 10 points for McComb.

Kristen Tropf and Elyse Anderbery each had 10 points for Van Buren (2-6).

 

LIBERTy-BENTON 67, CORY-RAWSON 31

FINDLAY -- Caite Craft led five Eagles in doubles figures with 22 as Liberty-Benton (7-0, 3-0 Blanchard Valley Conference) won at home.
