Clay, Perrysburg reach state meet

Perrysburg's Chelsea Williams proved to be one of the state's top gymnasts again this season.

The senior earned a fifth place in the all-around at the state gymnastics tournament in Hilliard, Ohio, with a score of 36.750. She had placed fourth last season.

Williams, who won the all-around title at the district, also tied for fourth in the vault (9.575) and tied for fifth in the uneven bars (9.250) at the state meet.

Clay, which won the district crown, and Perrysburg finished eighth and 10th, respectively, in the state tournament team results.

Kylee Ault, Jody Demeo, Amtheyst Floyd, Erin Gyurke, and Emilie Roman led the Eagles. Lauren Delp, Abbey Dunckel, Rebecca Garber, Rachel Hess, Baylee Smith, and Williams teamed up for the Yellow Jackets.

Napoleon's Riley Dunbar (9.025) and Clay's Jody Demeo (9.00) placed seventh and ninth, respectively, on the balance beam.

Archbold's Kinsey Smith finished tied for fourth in the floor exercise.

Findlay's Alexa Settlemire tied for 10th in the vault.
