Liberty-Benton boys claim Division III crown

FINDLAY -- The Liberty-Benton boys dominated the Division III District 2 meet Saturday and took the title on their home track by capturing three of the four relay events.

The Eagles easily outdistance Elmwood (172-87) as Dakota Conkle, Chase Cook, and Joseph Sherrieb each captured multiple titles.

The Eagles' 800 relay team of Garrett Eirich, Conkle, Kyle Bowsher, and Joseph Sherrieb took first place with a time of 1:31.57.

Eirich and Bowsher teamed with Chase Cook and Chase Conkle to win the 400 relay (44.27).

Dakota Conkle, Sherrieb and Cook then joined Jacob Clagg to take first in the 1600 relay (3:29.59).

Dakota Conkle won both hurdle events as he took the 110 (14.90) and 300 (39.89). Sherrieb won the 400 (49.51) and long jump (21-6). Cook placed first in the 100 (11.53).

L-B's Cole Newman won the 3200 with a time of 10:21.84.

Elmwood junior Lorne Strausbaugh took home the title in the 1600 title (4:34.24) in the District 2 race.

Evergreen junior Matt Taylor was the champion in the 200 with a time of 23.28. The Vikings also got a title from Malachi Tipping in the shot put (49-06.25).

Also, the Van Buren boys won the 3200 relay as Ted Simmons, Eric Wymer, Brian Davidson, and Dean Roadabugh won in 8:21.99.

In District 1, the Patrick Henry 1600 relay team of Shane Bostelman, Ryan Koppenhofer, Brett Schwierbert, and Kurt Gibson won in 3:31.37. The Patriots' Jacob Carrizales won the shot put (49-8).

Liberty Center girls win district championship

AYERSVILLE -- The Liberty Center girls won the Division III district title as junior Kelly Haubert two events.

Haubert won the 3200 with a time of 12:14.61. She also was a member of the Tigers' 3200 relay team along with Chrissy Winterfeld, Paige Chamberlain, and Brittany Atkinson that won with a time of 10:12.35.

Liberty Center also got a win from Jada Vollman in the pole vault (8-8).

Archbold junior Tressa Parsley placed first in the 400 with a time of 1:01.86. The Blue Streaks' Kassidy Garrow also took home a title in the 800 (2:26.21).

Archbold, which finished third in the team standings, also won the 1600 relay.

Pettisville sophomore Audra Klopfenstein sprinted home with the title in the 100 in 13.02 seconds. The Blackbirds also got a win from senior Tanner Hostetler in the 1600 (5:27.24).

McComb junior Rebecca Leppelmeir set a meet record in the discus (138-4).

Maumee Valley sophomore Nicohle Kanios placed first in the high jump (5-2).

On the boys side, Montpelier senior Kristopher Shoup took titles in two events.

Shoup won the 800 in 2:00.69 and he also was a member of the 3200 relay team with Logan McKelvey, Brad Snyder, and Blaine Thorp, that placed first (8:24.70). The Locomotives captured the 1600 relay as well. Montpelier junior Robbie Wuo won the 300 hurdles (41.01).

Liberty Center sophomore Nick Dremaline won the shot put (51-05.50).

Napoleon girls title; Weaver wins 3 events

FOSTORIA -- In the Division II District 1 girls meet Friday, Napoleon won the title.

The Wildcats took the 3200 relay (9:57.72). They also got a victory from Alexa Sonnenberg in the 1600 (5:27.13) while junior Whitney Lee won the 100 hurdles in 15.91.

Among the boys, Napoleon senior Steve Weaver won three titles.

Weaver won the 1600 (4:19.22) and the 800 (1:55.25), then capped it with a win in the 3200 (10:03.40).

In the District 2 girls meet, Liberty-Benton seniors Samantha Rhodes and Alyssa Gray each won two events. Rhodes won the 100 hurdles (14.95) and the 300 hurdles (44.67). Gray won the discus (145-0) and the shot put (42-4).

The Eagles' Alex Johnson won the pole vault (10-0).

Evergreen sophomore Carly Tuckor won both sprint events. Tuckor placed first in the 100 (12.94) and she also won the 200 (26.08).
