Coach: Mike May, fifth year

Last season: 6-4, 5-2 Sandusky Bay Conference

Returning letter winners: 14

Returning starters: Offense 5, defense 5

Schemes: I-formation/4-4

Top players: Seniors Austin Wiegand, 6-2, 165, QB; Mark Konieczny, 5-7, 185, RB; A.J. Cecil, 6-1, 175, WR; Mitch Hayslett 6-0, 200, OL/DL; Nate Segaard, 6-0, 225, OL/DL; Dalton Reau, 6-1, 255, DL; Kaleb Maguire, 6-1, 160, DL; Jamie Balboa, 5-10, 135, DB.

Outlook: Picked by coaches to finish third in the SBC, May believes the foundation of his team will be its strong leadership, as well as its depth on both the offensive line and defensive line -- an attribute that's essential for a team looking to utilize its depth.

Konieczny ran for nearly 1,400 yards last season and will be prominently featured this season in the offensive scheme. However, May said that one position where Oak Harbor will need to improve is among its linebackers, after losing three from last season to graduation.

The roster includes 21 sophomores, and while May said many of them won't play right away, the high participation numbers are critical in the development of the program.

"We have an athletic quarterback and I feel like we have one of the top receivers in A.J. Cecil," May said. "We're going to look to run the ball and hit the big plays."
