Holley helps Whitmer win, improve to 3-0

Titans, Knights suffer big losses; Finday cruises

Whitmer 20, Fort Wayne Luers 3

Quarterback Nick Holley had 130 rushing yards and finished 10 of 15 passing with 101 yards to lead host Whitmer in a nonconference game.

Holley's eight-yard pass to Mike Bzikowski broke a 3-3 tie in the first half. Whitmer (3-0) led 10-3 at halftime and the Panthers' defense held Fort Wayne Luers to 133 total yards of offense.

John Baldwin kicked field goals of 31 and 21 yards for the Panthers.

Sean Keten kicked a 37-yard field goal for Luers.

Hillard Darby 56, St. John's 22

HILLIARD, Ohio -- The Titans lost a road contest which was ended early by lightning with six minutes left.

Brogan Roback had two passing touchdowns for St. John's (0-3), connecting with Liam Allen for 65 yards and Louis Fuller for 35. Collin Korte added an eight-yard TD run.

Hilliard Darby's Chase Longwell had three rushing TDs (14, 3, 24 yards) to go with two passing scores (41 yards to Michael Porter, 12 yards to Caleb Day).

Day added a 21-yard rushing score for the Panthers (3-0). Jacob Stacy scored from eight yards out and Ben Radcliff had a 25-yard TD run.

Birm. Brother Rice 42, St. Francis 24

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. -- St. Francis fell behind early and couldn't catch up to Birmingham Brother Rice, last year's Division 2 state champion in Michigan.

Michael Wagner finished with 152 yards rushing for the Knights (1-2) including a three-yard TD. He also hauled in a seven-yard touchdown pass from David Nees.

Nees threw for 134 yards and added a late three-yard scoring strike to Luke Ketterman.

Brother Rice was led by Cheyne Lacanaria who was 9 of 9 passing for 171 yards and two touchdowns (14 yards to Joshua Flye and 64 yards to Corey Lacanaria).

The Warriors (2-1) had rushing touchdowns from Brian Walker (two yards), Shon Powell (12 and 7 yards), and Gregory Marzec (61 yards).

Findlay 42, Ontario Holy Trinity 6

FINDLAY -- Six players scored touchdowns for Findlay (3-0).

Jimmy Orwick scored retuned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a TD. The Trojans followed with four more first-quarter touchdowns: Austin Guttin on a 29-yard pass from Paul Cosiano; Vance Settlemire 24 yard run; Joseph Davidson 39-yard pass from Cosiano; Devin Dennard 62 yard run.

Brandon Muehl scored on a 42 yard run in the third quarter before weather conditions ended the game with 10:33 left.
