The St. John's hockey team placed second at its annual Mark Rasmus Memorial Invitational tournament last weekend at Tam-O-Shanter.

The tournament, which features some of the state’s best Catholic teams, is hosted by the Titans and is traditionally held on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend.

Five of the eight teams in the tournament received votes in the latest state poll.

No. 2 ranked St. John's lost 2-1 to No. 3 ranked University School in the championship game. The Titans went 3-1 with wins against Dublin Jerome (6-1), Mentor Lake Catholic (6-4), and Parma Padua (9-1).

The tournament is named in honor of Mark Rasmus, a longtime supporter of the St. John's hockey program who died in September, 2010, after a brief battle with cancer.
