Findlay foul shots sink Irish; Northview, Swanton, Napoleon record road victories

Findlay 63, Central Catholic 57

FINDLAY — The Trojans shot 21 of 26 from the foul line and 8 of 14 from 3-point range to advance to 13-8 overall and 8-5 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference boys basketball action Tuesday night.

Austin Gutting scored 18 points, Joseph Davidson 15, and Michael Clark and Grant McKinniss 12 each for Findlay.

The Irish (17-4, 9-4) saw C.J. Bussing toss in 17 points, DeShone Kizer 16, and Deonte Cole 11.

Northview 64, St. Francis 51

Jeff Czerniakowski scored 19 points and Connor Hartnett 18 as the Wildcats (12-9) used a strong second-half performance to upend the host Knights (2-18).

Mark Bernsdorff (11 points) and Aerion West (10) also scored in double digits for Northview, which outscored St. Francis 19-12 in the third quarter to take control.

Jay Snell led the Knights with 13 points, and Pat Szenderski added 11.

Swanton 63, Cardinal Stritch 60

The Bulldogs (11-10) hit a couple key 3-pointers, then made 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter to rally from a late 12-point deficit to win at Cardinal Stritch (8-13).

Rocky Robinson (24 points), Jordan Schnabel (11), and Paul Kennedy (10) combined to score 19 points when Swanton outscored the Cardinals 23-12 in the fourth quarter. Bryce McComb added 10 points.

Austin Adams finished with a game-high 26 points to lead the Cardinals.

Fremont Ross 51, Tiffin Columbian 43

FREMONT — Alex Metcalf scored 14 points, and Jack Gedeon scored five of his 10 at the foul line in the fourth quarter as the Little Giants (14-7) controlled the game.

Josh Flint scored a game-high 15 points for Columbian (7-14), which trailed 24-16 at halftime. Bryce Lonsway added 10.

Toledo Christian 85, Eastwood 62

Melvin Thomas paced TC (19-2) at home with 23 points, Eric Cellier added 19 more, and Ben Ivan and Jessie White 14 and 10, respectively.

Jake Schmeltz led Eastwood with 21 points.

Maumee 52, Otsego 44

The Panthers (14-7) roll behind Jason Wanamaker with 18 points, Dominique King with 13 and Sean McGovern with 10.

For the Knights (18-3), Ryan Smoyer had 12 and Tommy Rodgers 11.

Napoleon 59, Archbold 52

ARCHBOLD — Bryant Schlade scored 18, Blake Dunbar had 13, and Jordan Lauf 10 for the Wildcats (7-13).

The Blue Streaks (15-4) were led by Luke Fisher with 12 and Zeb Frank with 11.

Whiteford 50, Morenci 47

MORENCI, Mich. — Colin Lake poured in 24 points and Chris Sims added 11 more for the Bobcats (11-6).

The Bulldogs (5-13) were paced by Daiton Lemmon with 17 and Tom Alex with 12.

Clyde 70, Oak Harbor 59

OAK HARBOR — Derek Gray poured in 23 points and Paul Cullen chipped in 12 for the Fliers (13-8, 8-5).

A.J. Cecil scored 19 and Austin Weigand added 14 for the Rockets (10-11, 6-7).
