Spartans advance in overtime; 5 in double figures for Rogers in blowout win

Division I

Start 46, Maumee 38

Mike Mitchell scored all seven of his points in overtime, where the Spartans outscored the Panthers 14-6 to advance in the Whitmer boys basketball sectional Tuesday night.

Dominique King led Maumee (14-9) with 18 points. Jason Wanamaker added 11, which included a jumper to tie the score at 32 with 12 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Dion Ivery scored 18 points to lead Start (12-9), which trailed 22-18 going into the fourth quarter before coming back.

Rogers 91, Waite 44

Clemmye Owens hit six 3-pointers and scored 18 points during a win in the Whitmer sectional. Five of those 3s came during the second and third quarters.

Tony Kynard, Kevon Davis, DeVonte Pratt, and Fadil Robinson all added 10 points for Rogers (15-7), which led 47-21 at halftime. Eleven Rams scored.

Taywyn Mason led Waite (3-19) with 11 points.

Division II

Bellevue 71, Port Clinton 34

At Clay, Tommy Santoro pumped in a a game-high 28 points. Trent Stamm added 15 and Derek Smith 12 for the Redmen.

Nathan Stubblefield led the Redskins with eight.

Division III

Swanton 63, Patrick Henry 55

TONTOGANY — Paul Kennedy hit eight field goals and seven free throws in a 23-point performance, lifting the Bulldogs in the Otsego sectional.

Robbie Gilsdorf added 12 points for Swanton (9-14), which led 37-35 going to the fourth quarter. Rocky Robinson and Jordan Schnabel both added 10.

A.J. Wagner finished with 21 points for Patrick Henry (2-21). Jacob Carrizales added 10.

Liberty Center 53, Delta 45

TONTOGANY — Logan Meyer scored 12 of his team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter, where the Tigers used a 22-7 run to win in the Otsego sectional.

Kaleb Pohlman 14 more for Liberty Center (11-12). The Tigers trailed 38-31 going to the fourth quarter.

Delta (11-12) was led by Scott Garlinger’s 18 points and Micah Mohr’s 13.

Western Reserve 57, Woodmore 51

SANDUSKY — The Roughriders (17-5) win in overtime as Nathanial Good poured in 22 points and was aided by Jacob Muenz and Willie Roth both with 10.

The Wildcats (9-14) were paced by Brad Flick with 22 and Donny Bowen with 16. Woodmore was outscored 20-4 at the free throw line.

Division IV

McComb 45, Pandora-Gilboa 33

OTTAWA — The Panthers advanced as Clay Grubb scored 11 points and pulled down five rebounds. For the Rockets, Brian Schneck led with nine points.
