20 area wrestlers advance to state semifinals

COLUMBUS — Twenty area wrestlers won quarterfinal bouts today to advance to the semifinals of the state tournament.

Competing tonight in Division I will be Clay’s Richie Screptock (120) and Nick Stencel (160), Fremont Ross’ Trey Grine (145), Perrysburg’s J.P Newton (152), and Whitmer’s Marquise Moore (285).

Clay is tied for sixth with 22 points.

Division II semifinalists are: Napoleon’s Seth Beard (106), Central Catholic’s Alex Mossing (138), Bryan’s Shelden Struble (145), Oak Harbor’s Luke Cramer (170), and Wauseon’s Aaron Schuette (160) and Zane Krall (220). Wauseon (26 points) is seventh in the team standings and Oak Harbor (21) is in eighth.

Nine wrestlers in D-III are semifinalists: Delta's Jake Spiess (106), Kyle Keller (120), Tyler Fahrer (145), and Jared Mattin (160), Woodmore's Evan Ulinski (106), Archbold's Logan Day (138), Van Buren's Chance Sonnenberg (160), Fostoria's Tony Reynolds (170), and North Baltimore's Dalton Ishmael (195).

Delta (41.5 points) is in second and trails leader Troy Christian by one-half point.

Still remaining in the consolation bracket competing for third place are, in D-I, Perrysburg's Mario Guillen (106) and Cale Bonner (285); In D-II, Wauseon's Wade Hodges (126), Eastwood's Randy Caris (170), and Oak Harbor's Jared Chambers (152) and T.J. Lawrence (285); and in D-III, Liberty-Benton's Tyler Sarreshteh (113), Delta's Marteney (126), Liberty Center's Jimmy Spieth (170), and Fremont St. Joseph's Corey Durbin (220).
