Archbold sweeps NWOAL meet

Girls reign in relays; Wyse wins 3 events for boys

The Archbold boys and girls teams earned NWOAL championships Friday night.

The Blue Streak girls scored 146.5 points and held off second-place Wauseon (139), while the boys scored 124 points, ahead of Wauseon’s 117.5.

Liberty Center was third in the girls with 121 points, while Bryan took third for the boys with 82 points.

In the girls track events, Wauseon was strong in the sprints and distance, while Archbold flourished in the relay events.

Seneca Wyse (Wauseon) won the 100 in 12.79 and also took the 200 and 400 in 25.72 and 59.11 respectively.

Olivia Kundo (Liberty Center) won the 800 in 2:21.66, while Taylor Vernot (Wauseon) won the 1600 in 5:11.15 and also claimed the 3200 in 11:14.46.

Carly Truckor (Evergreen) dominated the hurdles, winning the 100 hurdles in 16.14 and the 300 hurdles in 46.36.

Archbold claimed the 400 relay in 53.04, the 800 relay in 1:48.77, and the 1600 relay in 4:11.11.

Liberty Center won the 3200 relay with a 9:48.47.

In the boys track events, Levi Wyse paced Archbold in the sprints, winning three events, while Quintin Reiser of Wauseon turned in three wins in the distance events.

Wyse ran an 11.06 to win the 100, and he also claimed the 200 in 22.36 and the 400 in 51.70.

Reiser took the 800 in 2:00.42, the 1600 in 4:26.93, and the 3200 in 9:56.86.

Brandon Poncsak (Bryan) swept the hurdles, winning the 110 hurdles in 14.50 and the 300 hurdles in 39.50.

Swanton won the 400 relay in 44.70 and the 800 relay in 1:32.45.

Archbold claimed the 1600 relay in 3:33.34, and Liberty Center took the 3200 relay with a time of 8:19.15

In the field events, Libby Munger (Delta) won the high jump at 4-11, Kinsey Smith (Archbold) took the long jump at 17-04, and Jada Vollmar (Liberty Center) cleared 9-06 to win the pole vault.

Andrea Weirauch (Liberty Center) was the discus champion with a throw of 119-09, and Brandi Thompson (Wauseon) took the shot put at 35-10.50.

For the boys, Kris Boysel (Wauseon) won the high jump at 6-00 and the long jump at 20-05.75.

Travis Peters (Bryan) was the pole vault champion with a jump of 14-00.

Noah Castle (Wauseon) won the discus with a throw of 163-06, and Nick Demaline (Liberty Center) won the shot put at 58-06.
