Recent Bedford graduate Jackson Lamb was named Michigan's Mr. Baseball for 2013 Sunday night at a banquet held by the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association in Clinton Township.

Lamb, a pitcher/outfielder who will play at the University of Michigan, closed his superb four-year prep career by batting .516 with four home runs and 44 RBIs for the Kicking Mules as a senior, and he was 9-0 with a 1.12 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 56 innings pitched.

For his career, the 6-foot-6 Lamb batted .500 and was 23-5 pitching. He helped Bedford to a Division 1 state runner-up finish in 2011 and to the D-1 state quarterfinals this past season.

He and senior teammate Kyle Kuhr were each also named to the MHSBCA D-1 all-state first team, and to Michigan's all-division Dream Team. Lamb was named as a pitcher and Kuhr as a first baseman.

Kuhr hit .487 with five homers and 37 RBIs in 2013 and was 6-1 with a 2.86 ERA pitching for the Mules, who finished 30-8.

In late May, Lamb was also named Michigan's Gatorade baseball player of the year.

Lamb, a three-time first-team all-state selection in baseball, was at Comerica Park in Detroit Monday night to participate in the Michigan High School all-star game.
