City League Football: Indians slip past Rams for 1st victory of season

Waite 21, Rogers 18

Jeremy Pratt ran for two touchdowns Friday night in a City League game to help the Indians notch their first win of the season.

Pratt rushing for 88 total yards and scores of 16 and five yards for visiting Waite (1-5, 1-0 CL).

Taquim Price threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Stratmon Cooke for Rogers (1-5, 0-1) and finished with 206 yards passing. Keon Rayford scored on a 42-yard run for the Rams.

Each team scored on a fumble recovery in the end zone. First, Edurado Jackson scored for Waite, then John King recovered to score for Rogers.

Start 21, Scott 12

Jaquan Hughes and Brandon Winters both ran for touchdowns and connected on a scoring pass as the Spartans (2-4, 1-0) led 21-0 in the third quarter, then held on at home.

Winters completed 12 of 20 passes for 139 yards and one touchdown, a 32-yard pass to Hughes that made it 21-0. Hughes caught five passes for 69 yards, and Tremain Batson added five receptions for 74 yards.

Scott (1-5, 0-1) scored all 12 points in the third quarter. Trey Brown, who completed 8 of 19 passes for 188 yards, threw a 13-yard TD pass to Day’vonta Russell and scored a one-yard run. Russell ran 18 times for 52 yards.

Bowsher 55, Woodward 6

Khane Collins and Steve Johnson rushed for two touchdowns each as Bowsher won at home.

Collins scored on runs of 40 and 65 yards and Johnson ran in from 28 and three yards. Mark Washington added a six-yard TD run and scored on an 83-yard fumble-recovery return for the Rebels (4-2, 1-0).

Phoenix Reid scored another Rebels touchdown on a 37-yard run and Stanley Brown blocked a punt and returned it for a 25-yard score.

Mordecai Brownlee scored the lone touchdown for Woodward (1-5, 0-1) on a six-yard run.
