Ernsthausen carries Titans to 1st victory

St. John’s Jesuit 83, Lima Sr. 55

The Titans, playing at home, broke out of the gate by connecting on five 3-pointers in the first quarter for a 25-15 advantage.

Parker Ernsthausen paced St. John’s (1-2, 1-0 TRAC) with 18 points, while Gabe Kynard added 17, J.P. Celis 12, and Kaleb Vaughn 11. Vaughn drilled home three 3-point shots in that opening period.

Rico Stafford popped in 17 points for Lima (1-1, 0-1), while Jay Thomas chipped in with 11.

 

Findlay 62, Clay 27

FINDLAY — The Trojans took command early, leading 18-7 at the end of the first quarter, and won going away.

Michael Clark led Findlay with 16 points while Grant Niswander and Austin Gutting each scored 10.

Anthony Ramirez topped the Eagles with nine points.

 

Ottawa-Glandorf 58, Bowling Green 36

BOWLING GREEN — Noah Bramlage (17 points) and Brad Recker (11) led Ottawa-Glandorf to a season-opening road win.

LaMonte Stone scored a game-high 20 points for the Bobcats (0-3).

 

Toledo Christian 61, Northwood 25

The host Eagles won their Toledo Area Athletic Conference opener behind 12 points from Nathan Walton.

Mason Hecklinger added 10 points for Toledo Christian (2-1, 1-0) as the Eagles jumped out to a 22-11 lead after the first quarter and outscored the Rangers 16-5 in the second quarter to put the game out of reach.

Steven Sutton and Jay Johnson paced Northwood (0-3, 0-1) with six points each.

 

Ottawa Hills 70, Danbury 48

Four players — led by R.J. Coil’s 18 points — scored in double digits as the Green Bears (3-1, 1-0 TAAC) rolled to a home win.

Goeff Beans (16 points), Hunter Sieben (12), and Ellis Cummings (10) helped Ottawa Hills jump out to a 44-22 lead at halftime.

Dominic Manuello scored 20 points to lead Danbury (0-4, 0-1).

 

Gibsonburg 78, Emmanuel Christian 24

GIBSONBURG — Andy Burmeister scored 12 points as the Golden Bears cruised.

Jordan Kreglow scored 11 for Gibsonburg and Tyler Ernsthausen added 10.

Aaron Scheiderer paced Emmanuel Christian with eight points.

 

Maumee Valley 53, Cardinal Stritch 52

Thad Woodard hit a go-ahead free throw with 0.5 seconds left as Maumee Valley edged Cardinal Stritch on the road.

Marcus Knabbs led Maumee Valley (2-1, 1-1 TAAC) with 12 points and Lucas Isaza had 10.

Austin Adams poured in 24 points as Cardinal Stritch lost its season opener. Austin Pratt added 14 points.

 

Lake 57, Fostoria 37

MILLBURY — Jacob Rettig scored 14 points, Connor Bowen added 13, and Cody Witt finished with 10 as the Flyers (2-0, 1-0 Northern Buckeye Conference) won on the road.

Tony Mauricio, Rayshon Martin, and Drew Stennett all scored eight for Fostoria (0-2, 0-1). Martin grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

 

Otsego 51, Elmwood 20

BLOOMDALE — The Knights blew out to a 30-8 halftime lead and never looked back. Schyler Scherff scored 15 and Logan Hosley 13 for Otsego (2-0, 1-0).

Aaron Arnold had 10 for the Royals (0-2, 0-1).

 

Port Clinton 47, Oak Harbor 44

OAK HARBOR — Port Clinton used its transition game to outscore the Rockets 23-8 in the third quarter to notch a road win.

Drew Foder (11 points) and Carter Rumball (10) led a balanced scoring attack for Port Clinton (2-0).

Tyler Siebert led Oak Harbor (1-1) with 10 points.

 

Liberty-Benton 79, Van Buren 52

FINDLAY — The Eagles jumped out to a 28-11 advantage after one quarter and never looked back.

Zach Garver poured in 24 points to lead Liberty-Benton (2-1). Nathan Craft added 15, Ryan Geise 14, and John Darnall 11.

Braxton Fasone led the way for Van Buren (0-2) with 13 points.

 

New Riegel 65, Lakota 59

KANSAS — Jake Dryfuse scored 14 points, and Tim Ink (11), Aaron Acree (11), and Grant Lescallett (10) all scored in double digits for visiting New Riegel.

Josh Kirkpatrick scored 16 points to lead Lakota, which was outscored 19-5 in the third quarter. Dakota Bowling added 15.
