Fast start propels Rossford; Yellow Jackets still perfect

Rossford 66, Clay 62

Derek Mack scored 11 first-quarter points, finished with 29 points, and helped the Bulldogs hold off the host Eagles in boys basketball Saturday night.

Brian Burks added 15 points for Rossford (7-3), which led 22-12 after the first quarter before Clay’s rally.

Anthony Ramirez led Clay (1-9) with 28 points. Pat Booth added 21.

 

Start 80, Bowling Green 74

Richie Lynn and Mike Mitchell and combined to score 19 fourth-quarter points as the Spartans held off the Bobcats at home.

Lynn scored 22 points for Start (1-8), Mitchell finished with 19, Adam Willis added 16, and Chris Adams had 13.

La’Monta Stone led BG (2-7) with 27 points. Trent Hinton had 12, Aidan Markey 11, and Mitchell Gardner 10.

 

Perrysburg 66, St. Francis 54

Nick Moschetti led a balanced Perrysburg attack with 21 points.

Nate Patterson added 13 for the host Yellow Jackets (9-0), while Trevor Hafner and Matt Kaczinski had 12 each.

Dontay Ellison led St. Francis with 14 and Nick Lankard and Evan Wheeler had 12 each.

 

Bedford 67, Whitmer 50

TEMPERANCE — Bedford jumped out to a 17-9 advantage after one quarter and maintained that lead throughout.

Brad Boss scored 15 points for the Mules (3-2), Adam Swisher and Dylan Barr added 13, and Jeremy Harris had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Sam Hickey tallied 18 points to lead Whitmer (3-6).

 

St. John’s 53, Warren De La Salle 41

Host St. John’s trailed 16-10 after one quarter but outscored De La Salle 17-6 in the second quarter and pulled away in the second half.

Parker Ernsthausen scored 13 points to pace St. John’s (9-2) and Anthony Glover, Jr., added 11.

Chris Rollins led De La Salle (3-2) with 14 points and Kevin McKay had 10.

 

Ottawa Hills 41, Toledo Christian 33

Geoff Beans scored 19 points and Ottawa Hills (7-1) surged in the second half after the teams were tied at 11 at halftime.

R.J. Coil added 12 points for the host Green Bears.

Garshawn Paynther's 13 points led Toledo Christian (4-5).

 

Fremont Ross 79, Waite 38

FREMONT — The Little Giants improve to 7-2 as Drew Solander scored 18, Dylan Jagodzinski had 15 and 17 caroms, Jarren Hampton 12 and Chris Liggins 11.

Phillip Darrington had half of the Indians (3-6) points with 19.

 

Findlay 48, Defiance 38

FINDLAY — Michael Clark hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Trojans raced to an 11-4 lead, pacing their home victory.

Austin Gutting led Findlay (8-2) with 14 points, Clark finished with 13, and Adam Twining added 10.

Katwan Singleton led Defiance (7-1) with seven points.

 

Cardinal Stritch 55, Danbury 22

LAKESIDE — Austin Adams tallied 27 points to lead Cardinal Stritch.

John Rhodes led the way for Danbury with eight points.

 

Swanton 50, North Central 39

SWANTON — Bryce McComb scored nine of his 20 points during the third quarter as the Bulldogs erased a one-point halftime deficit to win.

Robbie Gilsdorf added 11 points for Swanton (4-5).

Clayton Ferguson and Chase Legacy both scored 11 points for North Central (1-8).

 

Wauseon 53, Maumee 38

WAUSEON — Corry Byers poured in 20 points and Noah Castle added 14 for the Indians.

Mitchell Kontak had 18 (all on 3-pointers) for the Panthers.

 

Delta 60, Edgerton 36

EDGERTON — Ethan Edwards paced Delta with 18 points.

Noah Munger added 14 for the Panthers and Justin Callahan scored 11.

Max Nihart led Edgerton with 14 points.

 

Patrick Henry 51, Pettisville 50

HAMLER — Alex Scheele scored 20 points and A.J. Wagner added 16 as Patrick Henry held on to win.

Korben Rychener and Eli King led Pettisville with 13 points each.

 

Archbold 71, Fairview 41

ARCHBOLD — The Blue Streaks (7-1) bounded out to a 25-4 lead and didn’t look back. Tyson Schnitkey scored 25 (including 8 for 8 at the line), and Luke Fisher tallied 22.

For the Apaches (2-7), Daniel Smith totaled 10.

 

Eastwood 80, New Riegel 51

PEMBERVILLE — Jake Schmeltz poured in 30 points and the Eagles used a 32-9 third quarter edge to pull away.

Zach Jacoby added 12, Grant Peters 11, and Steven Bradley 10.

Jake Dryfuse paced New Riegel with 13 points.

 

Lake 68, Old Fort 65

OLD FORT — Jared Rettig set the pace for the Flyers (9-0) with 23 points while Connor Bowen added 19 and Cody Witt 12.

Hunter Perry led Old Fort (7-2) with 25 points and Maison Steyer added 22.

 

Maumee Valley 62, Emmanuel Christian 22

Rashad Woodley led a balanced scoring attack with 10 as the Hawks (7-1, 4-0) breezed.

For the Warriors (2-6, 0-4), Adam Regnier had 13 to lead the way.

 

Elida 68, Woodward 54

Dakota Mathius poured in 34 points for Elida (7-2).

Ramoan Fane paced host Woodward (6-3) with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Tahron Watson added 14 points.

 

Fayette 39, Hicksville 38

HICKSVILLE — Koby Biddix scored 15 points to lead Fayette and the Eagles survived a last second attempt by Hicksville.

Jonny Giesige paced Hicksville with 12.

 

Gibsonburg 68, Northwood 12

The Golden Bears (5-2, 2-2) had an easy time as they led 36-2 at the half.

Adam Copley was the leader with nine.

Whitmer 62, Lima Senior 57

LIMA — Chris Boykin and Jon Ashe scored 13 points each to lead Whitmer to a win on Friday night.

Montrece Collins added 12 and Sam Hickey had 11.

Ruben Flowers scored 16 points to pace Lima Senior and Rico Stafford scored 14.
