Central Catholic tops Clay; Archbold still rolling along

Genoa 45, Lake 44

GENOA — The Comets trailed 39-34 going into the fourth quarter but outscored the Flyers 11-5 to win in girls basketball on Thursday night.

Haley Gerke scored all of her eight points in the fourth quarter for Genoa (11-4, 5-3 NBC). Haley Pickard led the Comets with 16.

Lake (6-8, 3-4) was led by Chloe Huston’s 11 points and Alexis Hansen’s 10.

 

Otsego 29, Eastwood 28

PEMBERVILLE — The Knights squeezed by with a win thanks to nine points from Morgan Smoyer.

Otsego improved to 6-8 overall and 4-4 in the NBC.

Reagan Boice scored 14 points to pace Eastwood (2-12, 1-8).

 

Rossford 54, Woodmore 41

The Bulldogs won at home behind 18 points from Julie Hotz. Cheyenne Davis chipped in with 11 for Rossford (10-4, 6-2 NBC).

Allie Wank led Woodmore (6-9, 5-3) with 15 points, while Mackenzie Johnson scored 13.

 

Elmwood 53, Fostoria 38

FOSTORIA — The Royals outscored Fostoria 22-9 in the first quarter and held on to win.

Courtney Emmitt led Elmwood (11-4, 9-0 NBC) with 13 points, and Kristen Curtis added 11.

Erica Moore led Fostoria (1-11, 0-8) with 11 points.

 

Central Catholic 54, Clay 45

Demi Russell scored 14 points for the Irish (10-3, 4-2 TRAC), and Alyssa Galernik had 13.

Clay (9-7, 4-4) was paced by Samantha Enck’s 15 points, and Haley Hess added 13.

 

Findlay 40, St. Ursula 28

Mary Hardisty tallied 15 points for the visiting Trojans (2-12, 2-5 TRAC).

Megan Burns led St. Ursula (3-9, 0-6) with eight.

 

Ottawa Hills 61, Gibsonburg 28

The Green Bears won with Olivia VanSlooten scoring 14 points and Foster Smith 12. Ottawa Hills improved to 11-3 overall, 8-1 in the TAAC.

Shylee Schmeltz topped the Golden Bears (5-8, 5-4) with eight points.

 

Cardinal Stritch 43, Northwood 27

The Cardinals used a 25-12 second half edge to pull away for a TAAC home win.

CeCe Gozdowski scored 16 to pace Cardinal Stritch (6-8, 6-4).

Alex Rable led Northwood (2-13, 2-7) with eight.

 

Evergreen 43, Swanton 39

METAMORA — Haili Mossing scored 20 points to lead the Vikings (12-3, 5-1 NWOAL).

Macie Wheeler led the Bulldogs (3-4, 7-6) with 14 points.

 

Archbold 63, Wauseon 46

WAUSEON — Cassidy Wyse scored 26 points, and Archbold held a 28-12 advantage in free throws made. Jesse Fidler added 14 points for the Blue Streaks (14-1, 7-0 NWOAL).

Maddie Richer paced Wauseon (8-8, 3-2) with 17 points.

 

Delta 60, Bryan 46

BRYAN — Brigan Wyner scored 26 points, Morgan Mattimore added 15, and Abbie Harris 12 as the Panthers pulled away for an NWOAL road victory.

Hannah Schimmoeller scored 19 points for the Golden Bears, who trailed 32-22 at halftime.

 

Fayette 52, Edon 28

FAYETTE — Alexis Fruchey tallied 15 points to lead Fayette.

Taylor Griffiths added 11 for the Eagles (12-2) and Kaela Seiler scored 10.
