High School Basketball Roundup: 2-5

Ottawa Hills, St. John's win big; Adams scores 44 for Stritch.

Bears run away late
With less than two minutes to play in the third quarter of their showdown with first-place Ottawa Hills on Tuesday night, Gibsonburg seemed poised for an opportunity to close the gap in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference boys basketball standings.

But that’s when everything came undone for Gibsonburg. During the next five minutes, the Green Bears pulled away to a 72-52 victory with a game-breaking 22-2 run.

Titans’ defense stifles Knights
St. John’s Jesuit coach Ed Heintschel had an agenda for the Titans heading into Tuesday night’s Three Rivers Athletic Conference boys basketball contest with crosstown rival St. Francis de Sales.

He wanted to see some consistent play on defense, and they responded by holding the Knights to their second-lowest point output of the season in a 52-32 victory at Savage Arena.
