Ottawa Hills moves closer to TAAC crown

Ottawa Hills 50, Gibsonburg 35

GIBSONBURG — The Green Bears moved within one win of clinching at least a share of the Toledo Area Athletic Conference girls basketball title behind 14 points from Allie Dewire and 11 points and 11 rebounds from Foster Smith.

Ottawa Hills (15-4, 12-1 TAAC), which is tied for first place with Toledo Christian, broke open a close game by outscoring Gibsonburg 15-4 in the fourth quarter.

The Golden Bears (5-16, 5-8) were led by Amanda Shammo’s 11 points, and Danielle Fork added 10.

This game was finally played after being postponed by weather on Dec. 14, Jan. 6, and Jan. 27.

 

Danbury 49, Maumee Valley 16

LAKESIDE — Erin Lavelle scored nine points and Megan Stephens added eight for Danbury (11-10, 8-5 TAAC).

Kennedie Jackson’s seven points led Maumee Valley (2-19, 1-12).
