Spartans, Knights advance; Haar’s 18 points lead Oak Harbor to D-II sectional win

Division I

Start 70, Northview 54

At Central Catholic, Richie Lynn led Start (4-17) with 20 points, Mike Mitchell and Hermonte Scott had 15, and Damar Ellis scored 10 in boys basketball on Tuesday.

Aerin West paced Northview (7-16) with 19 points, while Mohamed Afifi added 10.

St. Francis 56, Whitmer 39

At Central Catholic, Lamar Carswell paced St. Francis (7-14) with 20 points and Kevin Metzger added 10.

Jon Ashe tallied 15 points to lead Whitmer (9-14).

Division II

Oak Harbor 56, Port Clinton 45

WILLARD — Oak Harbor started the game with a 15-5 run and held on to win its sectional semifinal.

Tate Haar led the Rockets (5-18) with 18 points and Deshawn Johnson provided 14.

Tytan Rumball paced Port Clinton (8-13) with 13 points and Carter Rumball added 11.

Division III

Archbold 59, Evergreen 30

WAUSEON — Luke Fisher tallied 23 points and Tyson Schnitkey added 12 as Archbold cruised.

Kyle Brighton and Logan Pinkelman paced Evergreen with 10 points each.

Delta 87, Montpelier 51

WAUSEON — Justin Callahan poured in 17 points, Andrew Stickley had 16, and Noah Munger scored 13 to lead Delta.

Dalton Surbey and Brad Snyder led Montpelier with 10 points each.

Woodmore 60, Northwood 27

OAK HARBOR — Drew Lewandowski scored 20 points and Grant Weis added 10 as Woodmore cruised in a sectional semifinal.

Joey Woody led Northwood with eight points.

Division IV

St. Wendelin 53, Mohawk 47

FOSTORIA — The Warriors defeated Mohawk to advance as Nick Root scored 26 and Gabe Walters 11.

The Warriors were led by Juston Morter with 18 and Hunter Fitschen with a dozen.

Continental 35, Patrick Henry 32

PAULDING — The Pirates overcame 2-of-11 free throw shooting as Wade Stauffer scored 11 points.

A.J. Wagner had 13 for the Patriots.

 

Southeast Michigan

Ann Arbor Huron 54, Bedford 53

TEMPERANCE — Jalen Thompson beat the buzzer with a two-pointer that gave Huron (17-2) the regular-season victory.

Thompson finished with 22 points, while teammate Dave Wren scored 12.

Jeremy Harris led Bedford (12-7) with 15 points and Adam Swisher added 11.

Whiteford 70, Morenci 45

OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. — Colin Lake scored 24 points, Troy Diller had 20, and Zach Perry added 10 for the host Bobcats (14-4).

Alex Thomas led Morenci with 14 points. Daiton Lemmon finished with 11.
