Bowsher’s Allen is All-Ohio in Division I

Rebels’ Guerrero shares honor as coach of year

Bowsher’s Nate Allen earned first-team honors, and Rebels coach Joe Guerrero shared top coaching honors on the Associated Press Division I All-Ohio boys basketball team announced Monday.

Allen, a 6-foot-4 senior who will play at North Carolina Central, averaged 22.2 points and 8.1 rebounds for the Rebels, while Guerrero guided Bowsher to a 22-2 regular-season record, a No. 8 state ranking, and the school’s first City League and district championships.

Guerrero (309-270 record in 27 years coaching) shared the coach of the year honor with Tim Casey of Upper Arlington and Leo Barther of Berea-Midpark.

Making the All-Ohio second team in D-I was Perrysburg’s 6-foot-3 senior Nick Moscetti, the Northern Lakes League’s player of the year. Moschetti averaged 22.6 points and 6.7 rebounds while helping the 19-3 Yellow Jackets to an NLL co-championship.

Two local players received third-team recognition in D-I — DeShone Kizer, a 6-5 guard who averaged 12.4 points and 6.8 assists for Three Rivers Athletic Conference champion Central Catholic (19-3), and Anthony Glover Jr. of TRAC runner-up St. John’s Jesuit. Glover, a 6-0 senior guard, averaged 18.1 points.

A D-I first team selection with local ties was Pickerington Central’s Jae’Sean Tate, a 6-5 senior who is the son of former Central Catholic star Jermaine Tate.

Findlay’s Adam Twining received D-I special-mention status, and honorable-mention status went to Anthony Wayne’s Matt Fox, Bowsher’s Dajuan King, Bowling Green’s LaMonta Stone, southview’s Matt Morrison, and Springfield’s Manny Durden.

In Division II, Scott’s 6-0 senior Chris Harris was named to the second team. Harris averaged 22.1 points, and was the City League player of the year.

Lake junior Connor Bowen was a special mention in D-II, and honorable mention went to Rogers’ Branden Austin and Bryan’s Thomas Martin.
