Cougars and the Ottawa Hills Green Bears play in the second annual Sylvania Southview girls softball team's "Swing for the Cure" game in March, 2013.

The Southview High School softball team will host the third annual Swing for the Cure to raise funds for cancer research.

This year’s game will benefit the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research and a local family and student who is battling lung cancer.

Southview will take on the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets at 5 p.m. Wednesday, 7225 Sylvania Ave. The Yellow Jackets also have a player battling a rare cancer.

Funds will be raised through 50/50 raffles for a donated City BBQ gift basket, and purchases of T-shirts and bracelets.

Donations can be made at the school’s athletic office, Sylvania Southview High School, 7225 Sylvania Ave., to the attention of Jim Zoltowski, Swing for the Cure.
