Notre Dame’s Tierra Floyd has verbally committed to Xavier University to continue her basketball career.

Floyd, a 6-foot-2 wing who will be a senior this coming season, chose the Musketeers over Ohio State, Indiana, Virginia, and Dayton, according to Notre Dame coach Travis Galloway.

"The biggest thing about Xavier for her is that she felt comfortable there," Galloway said. "She knows some players from AAU who are playing there. It was a big enough school but also a small enough campus. She liked that as well.

“She's been our leader the last two years. She's a very unselfish player who makes the players around her better."

Part of teams that have reached three straight Division I state semifinals, Floyd averaged 16.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.6 steals as a junior. The 2014 All-Blade girls player of the year, Floyd was also named to the All-Ohio, all-district, and All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference first teams. Notre Dame was 24-4 this past season and won a third consecutive TRAC championship.

In a duel with 2014 Ohio Ms. Basketball Kelsey Mitchell in the state semifinals, Floyd scored 21 points in a 60-52 loss to top-ranked and eventual state champion Cincinnati Princeton.

During Floyd's three seasons, Notre Dame has posted a 71-13 overall record.
