A four-year varsity volleyball starter for the Cougars, Fallis played one year as a defensive specialist and the past three as the team’s libero. This season, she was instrumental in lifting Southview from a .500 record in 2016 to a 19-6 overall finish and an advancement to the Division I district finals.

Fallis had a school-record 424 digs this season, and 1,081 in her career. She also was 334 of 357 serving with 65 aces, was 553 of 574 on serve receive, and contributed 62 assists.

She was named first team All-Northern Lakes League in 2016 and 2017, and was also named to the District-7 Coaches Association Division I first team this year. She will play volleyball next year on scholarship at Tiffin University.

“Sam’s years of defensive training have given her impeccable footwork to always get her body in terrific position to make a good pass,” Southview coach Mike Sebring said. “Her ability to read ahead of time defensively, and anticipate where a hitter is going to hit, give her a tremendous advantage. She has bailed us out defensively many times.

“Her jump-float serve is also a real weapon. She serves with great pace as well as great control to hit any spot on the court. Sam has grown a great deal as a leader for our program. She will be tremendously missed by everybody in the program.”
