Boys Basketball: St. Francis, St. John's earn TRAC wins

Findlay 67, Central Catholic 62

FINDLAY — Ryan Nunn had 25 points and Ryan Roth scored 19 points, including six of the team’s eight 3-pointers, as the Trojans prevailed in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference boys basketball game on Friday night.

Findlay (8-6, 3-4 TRAC) jumped out to a 10-point lead and withstood a furious fourth-quarter comeback by Central Catholic (6-7, 2-5), which scored 28 points in the period.

Jonzell Norrils led the visiting Irish with 20 points, and Cameron Awls scored 19.

St. John’s Jesuit 64, Fremont Ross 34

Houston King scored 17 points and Vincent Williams, Jr. netted 15 to lead the Titans (12-2, 8-0 TRAC). Ryan Christie added 12.

Fremont Ross (3-10, 1-8) was led by Malick Johnson, who scored 10 points.

St. Francis 63, Lima Senior 46

Jackie Harris scored 14 points, Drew Swerlein 13, and Tayler McNeal 10 for the host Knights (13-3, 7-2 TRAC).

Bryce Root led Lima Senior (7-8, 2-5) with 15 points.

Woodward 61, Waite 46

Jaymar Robinson scored 24 points and Charles Robinson III added 17 for the Polar Bears (2-14, 1-5 CL), who won their first City League game.

Dominique Booth led Waite (7-8, 2-4) with 14 points. Mark Randall added 12.

Start 97, Scott 44

The host Spartans nearly reached the century level as Brandon Lewis poured in a season-high 33 points, which included eight 3s. Devin Williams added 16 and Trent Harris 10 for Start (12-3, 6-1 CL).

Eugene Towbridge paced the Bulldogs (1-13, 1-5) with 14 points.

Southview 61, Bowling Green 41

Tehree Horn scored 17 points, and Zech Miller and Christian Wagenhauser both added 10 for host Southview (15-1, 8-0 NLL) in Northern Lakes League play.

Bryce Hoehner led the Bobcats (3-10, 3-5) with 15 points.

Anthony Wayne 64, Napoleon 35

NAPOLEON — Andrew Murphy scored 19 points and Max Denman for the visiting Generals (3-10, 3-5 NLL).

Brennan Druhot led Napoleon (2-13, 0-8) with eight.

Springfield 71, Maumee 44

The Blue Devils (3-10, 3-5 NLL) won on the road as the trio of Denzel Prince, Cameron Arce, and Terrel Bryant all scored 16 points. 

Ben Pacer had 16 and David Walker 15 for the Panthers (3-11, 1-7).

Toledo Christian 47, Emmanuel Christian 43

The Eagles (12-3, 7-2 TAAC) won a Toledo Area Athletic Conference game behind 14 points by Trevor Wensink and Delano Smith with 13 points.

Toledo Christian jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one.

Jailon Walker had a game-high 19 points for the Warriors (5-7, 2-6).

Ottawa Hills 54, Gibsonburg 33

GIBSONBURG — Eliot Cummings scored 21 points and James Silk added 19 for the Green Bears (8-6, 5-4 TAAC) on the road.

Josh Ernsthausen led Gibsonburg (2-10, 1-6) with 10.

Maumee Valley 94, Northwood 45

Zeb Jackson scored a season-high 31 points and Steve Coleman added 15 for the host Hawks (11-3, 7-2).

Northwood (1-15, 1-10) was led by Jay Moten’s 17 points.

Delta 60, Liberty Center 58

DELTA — The Panthers won a thrilling Northwest Ohio Athletic League contest as they outscored Liberty Center 11-0 in the first quarter and hung on late.

Brady Wymer had 18 points for the Panthers (5-9, 2-1 NWOAL), and Elliot Schneider added 12 points.

Jarrett Krugh had 21 points for the Tigers (3-11, 0-3), and C.J. Spradlin added 15 points.

Archbold 63, Patrick Henry 23

HAMLER — Kaiden Bedsole scored 16 points and Rigo Ramos 15 for the visiting Blue Streaks (10-3, 1-2 NWOAL).

Xavier Wensick led Patrick Henry (5-9, 1-2) with eight points.

Evergreen 48, Swanton 40

MONTPELIER — Mason Loeffler and Nate Brighton both finished with 14 points for the host Vikings (7-8, 3-0 NWOAL).

Randy Slink led Swanton (5-10, 0-3) with 14 points.

Monclova Christian 54, Horizon 33

Caleb Kynard scored 26 points and Grant Ledyard added 11 as Monclova Christian won at home.

Terrell Thompson led Horizon with 14 points and Jersey McClennan had 11.

Pettisville 52, Montpelier 49

MONTPELIER — Kolden Uribes scored a game-high 28 points for the Locomotives (6-9, 4-5 Buckeye Border Conference), but it wasn’t enough.

The Blackbirds (14-1, 9-0) were led by Graeme Jacoby’s 14 points. Detric Yoder had 13 points, and Dillon King scored 10.

Huron 65, Port Clinton 46

PORT CLINTON — Michael Hurst scored 17 points, Chris Davis scored 14, and Casey Scroggins netted 13 to lead Huron (4-7) to a road win.

Max Rumbarger (14 points) and Max Brenner (11) led the Redskins (1-12).

Vermilion 55, Oak Harbor 38

OAK HARBOR — Tate Smith led the Rockets (12-2) with 17 points, but it was not enough to overcome Vermilion’s 1-2 punch of Mason Montgomery and Joby Pfeil.

Montgomery finished with 27 points in the win, and Pfeil ended with 21.

Wayne Trace 54, Holgate 21

HAVILAND, Ohio — Nate Gerber scored 19 points to aid Wayne Trace to victory. Jordan Saylor added 10 points.

The Tigers were led by Sebastian Briseno and Cody Sonnenberg with six points.

Lenawee Christian 63, Jones Academy 43

Lenawee Christian (10-3) notched a win in Toledo.

For the Jones Leadership Academy (2-10), Tyler Huff scored 14 points and Tre’von Shelmon added 12.

Whiteford 62, Britton-Deerfield 36

OTTAWA LAKE, Mich. — Cameron Iott scored 15 points and Jarred Fink added 12 points as the Bobcats (9-2, 7-0) remained unbeaten in the Tri County Conference.

Matt Taylor had 11 points for Whiteford.

Cole Shiels led Britton-Deerfield (5-7, 2-4 TCC) with 13 points.
