Prep Tennis: Perrysburg's Weider, St. John's duo win district championships

BOWLING GREEN — Perrysburg senior Ben Weider cruised to his second straight Division I district title Saturday without losing a single game in his four district matches.

Weider won the final match over Findlay sophomore Drew Swisher 6-0, 6-0.

Weider and Swisher both advanced to the state tournament.

In Division I doubles, the St. John’s duo of Alan Fahoury and Dev Laungani topped teammates Aidan Williams and Akhil Katragadda 6-2, 6-1 as both teams will advance to the state tournament.

In Division II singles, Ottawa Hills freshman Matthew McGee earned a trip to the state tournament after losing in the district final to Ada’s Zachary Beaschler 6-2, 6-3.

McGee earned a hard fought win in the semifinals over Benton Drake of Lexington 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.

In Division II doubles, the Bryan duo of Isaac Bowers and Logan King and the Archbold duo of Luke McQuade and Erik Short earned a spot in the state tournament after both teams lost in the semifinals. Luke and Blake Webster of Lexington earned the doubles title.
