Wauseon knocks off Patrick Henry
WAUSEON - Wauseon outscored Patrick Henry by 10 in the second half to keep pace in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League chase with a 54-47 victory last night.
Brock Mealer scored 13 points, Troy Hoste 11 and Zach Fether 10 for the Indians (14-4, 6-2), who scored the game's first 10 points before getting in foul trouble and falling behind 24-21 at the half. Lucas Elston hit a big 3-pointer that gave the Indians a five-point lead with about 1:30 remaining.
Zach Wensink tallied 14 for the Patriots (13-6, 5-3).
Wauseon, which made 41 percent of its shots from the field (19 of 46), remained one-half game behind league-leading Archbold. Patrick Henry shot 30 percent from the floor (16 of 54) and had nine turnovers. Wauseon had five.
MONTPELIER - With the score tied at 6 early in the game, Liberty Center went on a 22-0 run to take control.
Greg Badenhop led the Tigers (14-4, 6-2) with 26 points, Tyler Sharpe added 17 and Eric Wymer 10.
Badenhop scored 16 points in the first quarter after which the Tigers led 26-6.
Brian Nelson scored 16 and Brian Ogden added 11 for Montpelier (7-12, 2-6).
DELTA - Dan Borcherdt scored 14 points, DJ Selgo 12 and Kurt Cline 10 as league-leader Archbold (15-3, 6-1) struggled but beat the Panthers.
Marcus Baun led Delta (4-14, 2-6) with 13 and Chas Abbott had 11.
Archbold led 14-6 after one quarter and Delta played the Streaks even thereafter.
BRYAN - Chris Carpenter scored 27 for Bryan (9-9, 4-3), which led 22-5 after one quarter and held on.
Doc Skeldon scored 26 points for Evergreen, including 13 from the free throw line where the Vikings (11-8, 4-4) were 15 for 22.
Bryan went 13 of 21 from the line.
